I would have used to say go for the Vortex, but my Minox ZA5 has really got me questioning that. I don't see any difference between the ZA5 and Viprer, might even give a small edge to the ZA5.

And just think you get to help do your part to fund the Anti-Gun movement by spending your money there.

And at 8.875% sales tax, which they have to pay on that sale even thought to you it is "tax free", you gave $35.50 to the New York antigun government. That is equivalent to a non-discounted year long NRA membership. The anti-gun lobby thanks you for putting your money where it is needed most.

Chuck, I have no problems paying sales tax. Can we stay on topic?

So then you're doing the same thing, right?

So then you're doing the same thing, right? Federal tax is something I can't help. But to equate that with willingly funding an anti-gun government, is way off base. I am just trying to open some eyes here. Obviously some folks don't care who they hurt as long as they get a good deal. And hardly a response I would expect with someone who brazenly puts patriot in their forum name, who are you a patriot for the people taking away our rights?

So I assume you don't buy Remington, Ruger, S&W, or Winchester guns? All of those companies are in anti-gun states.

To be on topic, you might look at Leupold VX III or VX-R if you want illumination. I've got a VX-R 50mm CDS listed in the classifieds matter of fact. Also, look at Sightron, Bushnell and SWFA SS. SWFA has a section on their website called the sample list where they have demos and trade ins and what not. That's a good place to look as well. I had a Vortex Viper PST 6-24 and sold it. I just wanted very impressed with the glass quality. It was replaced by a comparable bushnell.
You also need to think about if you want first or second plane zoom, mil or moa adjustments and covered or uncovered turrets.

True but if you shop around and buy used you can do pretty good. I just picked a nearly new SWFA 3-9 SS in the box with a sunshade for $300.

Plenty of good condition used stuff I can buy right here in Texas or for me it is more likely I will find a Mauser 98 action and build it up.

[/quote] Your right, I am a troll. Please forgive me for trying to get people to think about where they send their money. Maybe if more people would stop and think and refuse to sell their soul for a good deal, then we wouldn't even be having this discussion. It is a darn shame, people are willing to send their money to New York, when you can get the same deals right here in Texas. My last post on this, SWFA will price match and eat Sales Tax and shipping. Every dollar you send to New York tells them it is okay to pass their laws and you can't wait to be under the same oppression.

I have done business with both Skylar at SWFA and Doug at Cameraland. Excellent deals and great service with both and will continue to buy from them depending on who has what I need at the time. I don't see it as my money going to Texas or New York -- I see it as going to help Skylar and Doug. I don't think the Big Guy upstairs thinks I have sold my soul for helping out Doug, a fellow AMERICAN.

I'm a bit confused. Does that mean they do not have inventory in stock in their store? If so you would be mistaken. Or at least they've had everything I have drove there to buy in stock. Rings, bases, two different scopes.

Rings, bases, two different scopes. I'm wondering if he's confusing SWFA with Optics Planet. The scope I ordered through them was shipped the same day. You have to have inventory in stock to do that.
for every stereotype there's a prototype don't be the prototype
