I might shoot my rifles once at the ranch range. Most of the time I don't though.
Been killing deer for over 15 years without shooting a box a week at the range, don't see the need to start now
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

At least three shots to make sure guns still on. If its not, as many as it takes to get it right. Slinging about 10-15 arrows a day til season starts.

Well, I hunt with a 250-3000savage and I don't reload, so I'll shoot as few shots as possible before season starts. I've got about 20 rounds, and I hope it lasts me a couple years before I have to order more shells at $2 a pop.

I've had the same two boxes of .270 for the set 3-4 years. But, I haven't hunted in at least the last 3-4 years. Looking to change that this year.

I use to shoot nearly every weekend that I could until I got my bow. Now I haven't touched a rifle in months. I know I can shoot a rifle, it's this dang stringed contraption that's taking some practice. It is addicting though.

with your primary and secondary rifles before deer season starts? How much during the season (practice wise)?
I will shoot 10-20 a week from now until season starts, then a few after returning home from each trip to verify stability after that much travel/vibration. Haven't made any changes in several years, but....
As for the carbine, I shoot it every week anyway at coyotes or something, and it stays on the four wheeler year round.
My son (16) will shoot at least a box a Sunday from now until then too. Ya'll have more money than me! A box costs me $27/20. Shooting a box a week that would be $108/month in ADDITION to gas($400), corn($350), food($500) & lease fees($500). I'll shoot about 50rds to make sure it's good, shoot some hogs & call it good. If it's off I'll shoot an extra 10 or so to dial it in. I can't afford to shoot any more than that!

With my go to deer gun, take it out a month before opening day, check zero. How ever many shots that takes and that is it till season is over. I have plenty other guns to play with so my deer gun is my deer gun.
Archery hunt most of the time anyways.

I don't just shoot to get ready for deer season, I shoot because I enjoy shooting. That means I spend a lot of unnecessary money on ammo, but all hobbies are expensive...

I also have a 35 Remington, and it stays on zero faithfully year after year. I don't always use it, but it is always ready to drop whatever it is aimed at right in his tracks...

That hard kickin' sob, the only thing it is good for is taking in the brush after a downed animal, solid gun though. And to the topic--1 or 2 shots out of both of my M77's, they don't get off setting in the safe. Now I might practice on a pig or coyote before the rut if you know what I mean.
