I am wanting to buy a new rifle and can't decide which caliber to get. I am thinking about a 264 Win Mag or 257 Weatherby. I want to use it for white tail, mule deer, pigs ect. I already have a 300 Win mag, 7mm/08, 25/06, 243, and 22-250. Which one would fit in best with what I have? I don't reload.

Ok have to say other then something like a 308 I dont see much need for another caliber. But even 308 is not needed with that selection.

264 or 257Bee would be a nice addition for you. If you're a reloader, I'd go with the 264. If not, the 257.

He didn't say "need" he said "want". Just figure out the gun u want and then worry about caliber. You've got all the bases covered with the ones you have so just figure out a nice piece to the collection. Look at Sako, that's my addiction right now.

Looks like you don't have too many gaps in your arsenal. I think its only missing the .270..

Not missing, prolly left out on purpose. bolt

I would normally push the 260 Rem, but with what you already have, I can't see the need. Do you have a $1000 to $1500 scope? If not, you need one.

Sounds to me like you need a 7mm Remington Magnum. Develop an accurate load with 160gr Accubonds and you have a ctg for anything except maybe Grizz. You can load it full bore or load it down to 7/08 velocities. A 7 mag will have a little less recoil than your 300, burn a little less powder and still have enough womp and stomp for near anything on earth.

I had a 7 mag but hated it. The only gun I was ever glad to get rid of.

Ruger stainless with the old skeleton synthetic stock. Wouldn't group for anything.

With all the mid range gaps covered, I'd look at some of the lever guns 30-30/45/70 yadda yadda, some of the ittybitty boolitz umm 222/223/22-250'ish since you don't reload or I'd be all over some of the PPC/ x47's stuff, or some of the bigger boomers for funsies.

I've had a barrel of fun with a CZ American 9.3x62 which is just a scootch smaller/slower than a 375Holland & without the heavier recoil, and you can get factory ammo from Midway or Graff. H&H itself would be a good choice and still not toooo big to shoot WTails with.

since you dont reload, you might research the cost of the ammo. I have a 264 and the ammo keeps going up, i dont take it out and shoot as much. One other thing is, some of the odd ball calibers, lets say you head out for your hunt, get there, and forgot your ammo or you lost it, falls out of truck, basicly if you had to run to a store to get some more and if you are in a little town, most places wont carry that odd stuff, they probally have plenty of common ammo.

good luck

Not to offend, but with so many rifles in your case already, you sound like a woman trying to decide which pair of shoes to buy next.

The number of rifles that I own is more a matter of the number of kids I have to leave each one.

Still, my wife would say I'm no different than you.

308 win... a common caliber that can be used for long distance and contact ranges. And Will kill any game in North America.

I'd say you pretty much have everything covered.

264 win mag rounds are pricey if'n you don't reload. Heck they are expensive even when you do reload.
