We have too many scared and unknowing people in our Country..and Texas is now becoming populated with some of the most Liberal who would vote in Nazi Germanys' Laws and never know they had. I say some of the concealed addendums in the so-called "Background Check" Legislation..if you lent your shotgun to a friend or son ect to go hunting ..you and he would lose your rights to own and bear arms, and both would have comitted several Federal Crimes..DD

Deadline of May 6 is fast approaching for getting hb 700 out of committee. Call Rep Picketts office at 512-463-0596 in support of the open carry bill or it will die in the committee for the third time.
deadline is May 6th I've received a lot of comments after posting that on fb. Hopefully they were flooded with calls

Died in committee. A committee chaired by a Democrat and comprised of a majority of republicans, take it for what it is worth

In this case the committee didn't take a vote on the bill so it did not reach the floor of the house for an up or down vote. It is a great way strike down pro gun legislation without taking a public stand or hurting your nra rating.

I'm sorry, let me clarify my question. How does a committee made up of almost all republicans gets chaired by a democrat?

You know you sound just like Feinstine, Pelosi, and all the other jerks who think that they know better than everyone else don't you? If you think it's a bad idea then by all means don't do so but don't force your beliefs of "whats better" on everyone else.

My opinion about open carry is based on carrying a concealed handgun a lot longer than you have and seeing with my own two eyes the advantage of it over open carry. I find it very telling that no fellow LEO's I speak with about the subject think it's a good idea, and the only folks who seem to want to do it are civilians, who for some strange reason feel the need to show off to everyone else they are carrying a gun. Maybe you should order some Extenze.

how do you know how long the op has carried concealed? Just because you are leo gives you no right to decide what the rest of us should/should not get to do with open or concealed carry. You are responsible for enforcing the laws/not making them. Look at the states that allow open carry, no wild west shoot outs or problems with leo reported that I have been able to find. I am ex leo and my brother in law is still leo, everyone I talk to in this field HAS NO PROBLEM with open carry. It is a option most legal/law abiding/upstanding citizens would like to have.

It's dead so get over it. You lost. I can't figure out people who feel they need to display a firearm in a public place. All I can guess is you want to impress other people. I and others who carry firearms for a living will just think your a douche. I still suggest Extenze.

Maybe you should order some Extenze. We are definitely lucky to have people in this world, such as yourself, that are more experienced and more intelligent to make decisions for us peons. Since you state that it is 100%, without question, in every situation that has ever happened, or will happen, advantageous for people to carry their weapon concealed, instead of open, I think everyone should just agree, and make sure open carry stays illegal!!!!! Come on guys, we should oppose open carry, because the people that know better are telling us it is a disadvantage to carry open. And if something puts you at a disadvantage, that is certainly a justifiable reason to infringe on an individuals constitutional God-given right. And don't bother asking why police officers open carry if it is such a disadvantage, you are simply not intelligent enough to understand. It's not your fault, God just made some people better than you. God made them better so that they can force you to not do things that are disadvantageous to you. Bloomberg says you don't need more than 7 rounds to defend your life, family, property in any conceivable situation, so you obviously don't. Bloomberg also says that I don't possess the ability to regulate the amount of soda I consume, without putting me at a health advantage. I obviously need someone to determine the maximum amount of soda that can fit in my cup. Joe Biden says you don't need more than 2 rounds fired off your back porch to protect your house from a robbery/rape/murder intrusion, so you obviously don't. I could go over more, but my inferior brain cannot process that much information at this time. (Side note: I bet either one of these guys could add up the number of firearms in their immediate vicinity at any given moment, and it would be more than the majority of us own... Just sayin!) Or mayyyyyybe, I'm a man created by God, provided with the intelligence and conscience to make my own decisions regarding everything that affects everything to do with me, my family, and my community. Then again, God didn't make me one of the elite humans. What the heck do I know? I'm just a pleb.

I and others who carry firearms for a living will just think your a douche. I still suggest Extenze. So your guess is that police display firearms in public places so that they can impress other people? And that they are douches for it? Oh wait, you are a police officer? And you "carry a firearm for a living"? I am a dumbass. I thought you made a living by doing the work necessary to enforce the law and protect citizens in need. And that you carried a firearm as a necessary tool to carry out said work. But you actually "carry a firearm for a living." Doesn't seem like too hard a job. You can get paid just to "carry a firearm?" And "you lost" is your stance? Is it the police against the community? And you won? I seriously believed the police were a part of the community. I didn't realize the police were an opposing force to us. I've got a lot to learn. That's a really nice mentality you have there.
