Been passed that Pecan Pie is the official pie of TX. Our state reps have time for this but not more important legislation like open carry? BTW! I love me some good TX pecan pie topped off with some good ole TX made Blue Bell vanilla ice cream.

I just got off the phone with Rep. Lavenders office. He had a meeting with the Speaker of the House yesterday and I guess he got mixed signals from him. It seems that these veteran polititians are more concerned about their next job and pecan pie than they about anything else. Rep. Lavender is still going to fight for it but the leadership doesn't seem to care. Contact the Speaker and your congressman to voice your support.

Don't get me wrong; I'm all for it even if it would mean OC is restricted to CHL licensees, initially. I would rather see it not brought to the floor if the support isn't there.

I'd like to see it pass so when I'm riding a motorcycle which is most of the time, I don't have to worry if my weapon is exposed. In the summer it's also a little harder to conceal without printing.

I'd like to see it so we for once will stop putting people in jail who are law abiding citizens who made a momentary exposure of a CHL gun.

The jails should be overflowing with examples based on how many times people posts that.

One. And it's in Florida. But this thread is about Texas open carry. The cop was foul-mouthed and overbearing. I note that FL does not require notification but does require if you carry to have your CWP. The question is was he prosecuted, in light of the assertion of incarcerated folks accidentally displaying concealed handguns. Yeah, it'd suck to be jacked-up with no other reason. It's sad that oftentimes those sworn to uphold laws don't know the laws. Remember that FL also is represented in Congress by Alcee Hastings, who said "we just make up the rules as we go",

Im for the oc bill even though i would not oc, i like people not knowing im carrying. The biggest issue that we should address, is how one person from way out in el paso has the power to decide what gets voted on what dont. this should say something about how our law making process sucks. If u go to TexasGunTalk there is 11 page thread over there discussing different firearms bills in Texas. Seems the chairman for this committee was put in place due to "a deal" to make sure the current speaker of the house could get the votes needed to become speaker. so does not matter what party you belong too, politicians are going to be the snakes in the grass they are. it just burns me up that one person has enough power to keep infringing on my rights.

Looks like it's done. I'm glad too. OC is foolish. What kind of idiot would knowingly give up the element of surprise in a gun fight? An idiot who has never been in in one.

OC is allowed here in Florida but only when on the way to, engaged in, or on the way back home from camping, fishing, the range or hunting. Even if it was legal all the time, I would not OC.
I have at times when leaving the lease still had my gun exposed, and several times, late at night, the County deputies have stopped us to make sure things were on the up and up. Both times as the deputy drove up, being in the dark, I announced I had a gun on my waist. Both times the dep's said "yeah you'd be crazy not to have one" or " I figured you did" and then we'd chat for a while. They'd complain about hogs tearing everything up and tell us to start whacking more when we are out there, then wish us good night and leave to go onto other things.

What kind of idiot would knowingly give up the element of surprise in a gun fight? LEOs. I defer to others as to presuming idiocy. An idiot who has never been in in one. I take it that means you've been in a gun fight[s]? Not combat, but the generally-accepted urban shootout with handguns?

Deadline of May 6 is fast approaching for getting hb 700 out of committee. Call Rep Picketts office at 512-463-0596 in support of the open carry bill or it will die in the committee for the third time.
