Same here. I shot Spitfires for years until I had a bad experience with one. No more mechanical broadheads for me. I never had a blade break on the spitfires though. Maybe bend if it stuck in the ground or hit a rock but never break.

Mostly bent but a some are broke off when I pull the arrow out of the target.

I love my Steel Force Phat Heads. I shoot the 165s, they sharpen easy and are tough as nails. They have heck of a drop after 20 yards! The pay off is the energy supplied on your target.

what is the benefit of shooting a broadhead like that.

a pass thru is a pass thru....energy is wasted

If you're not shooting a highly efficient energy transfering bow, over all arrow weight is needed for a suitable momentuem number.

Or you just feel you need it, if it makes you more confidence, why not I suppose

I only practice with Field tips. I may shoot the broad heads a few times before I go hunting just make sure it is shooting right,but I don't really see much benefit in practicing with broadheads.

Slick tricks have always worked great for me.

NAP Thunderheads. I used to shoot the same arrow and vane combo you described. Never had a problem with the Thunderheads. In fact, I still shoot them.

What's crazy is the thunder heads are the ones I have the most problem with...

I have shot five deer with the same broadhead over the last three year. They are easy to sharpen and reuse. Thick blades that won't break off.

Oh yea, they shoot exactly the same as my field points. Blazer vanes all the way too.

I have shot dozens of deer with chisel point broadheads like muzzy and thunderhead, but have shot razor tips like the montec and satellite Titan for the last ten years or so. With as many hogs as we have around here and the likely hood of shooting a pig every bit as great as a deer, I just like the penetration on the razor tips. I have only shot an expanding broadhead a few times and didn't get the performance I wanted out of the spitfire.

I shoot hartcraft they shoot just like field points. Really sounds like the bow needs tuned like said before paper tuning will tell you a lot. Arrow may not be released straight.
