I dont know about the 6.2.. my brother in law has one and loves it but I wasn't a fan...like the v10 better.

I had a 6.0 chevy while it didn't have the ump the v10 had I put over 150k on it pulling a 32ft gooseneck load with purlin, tubing and pipe..never had a issue other then a tranny sensor

I know I didnt specify in my post, but I ment if I bought a gas 3/4 I would probably still lean to chevy. If buying a half it would be an eco if buying a diesle 3/4 or 1 ton a ford.

I have driven a buddies 6.2 ford and it seemed pretty peppy, but it was empty and and its thirsty.

When dodge switches over to eurea in '13 my preference will likely go back to them for a diesel.

So if something breaks on your truck at 120k miles, that makes it crap? Had my oil changed last week and they did a recall on the trans dipstick, with 30k miles...... I guess I need to trade it in!

I got the same letter in the mail on my wife's Yukons. They're not running rough and have a lot of warranty left.

Not saying that at all. Engine breaking/malfunction when past warranty is now a reality on GM trucks if not before. I fully expected the transmission to break & incorporate that into my purchase decision as well as save for it. Engine problems on the GM trucks I've owned have not been an issue in the past. Search the internet & you'll discover "bu-koos" of people with engines that have required AFM lifter replacement, both in (if you're lucky) and out of warranty. Now that I know this is an issue, engine replacement cost is now a component of the purchase decision that directs me toward other brands in the future. It is what it is.

Maybe so, but as many people on here that drive trucks- most newer models, I would think that there would be something else on it.... just me

All this seems kinda silly. My BIL just got thru paying for a rebuild of his 2004 F-150's xmission. I can attest it is lightly driven, has never been off the road and never pulled anything. He has and older Chevy to do that stuff with. Carp happens.

The thing that catches my attention on this thread is that GM is doing a fix as fails program on this issue rather than a recall. When a company has a problem, they should recall the vehicles and fix them. Your vehicle may not have the failure as soon as others, but in more than likely, it will fail at some time. If it was a known problem to the company, it should have been fixed as soon as they discovered it. Another thing, FIAT owns Chrysler now. I understand that they have some good truck products right now, but just wait. They will screw up the quality on these vehicles in time by purchasing parts from the cheapest supplier whether they operate in a factory in Michigan or a converted chicken house in Turkey. It will happen.

So you don't own anything made in Japan? No radios, clocks, flatscreens, or computers? Wow.

Yes, but neither Mexico or Canada ever killed 2400+ and wounded almost another 1300 of our fellow citizens in a sneak attack. FFT...

I just traded in my 2011 F250 6.2 for a 2013 Chevy Z71 5.3 I got about 11 in the city and 15.5 highway with the 250. Hopefully the Z71 is an improvement.

Yeah, but watch out for the condensation collecting in the Intercooler in high humidity environments, sucking water into the comustion chamber at the same time you are putting your foot to the floor trying to pass someone. Instant limp mode, and hopefully not an accident in the process. Google it, the issue exists. Note that a lot of the torture testing was done in dry climates. Lots of torque and a quick truck, but not perfect either. No truck is, no matter what the make. Having said that, I've had a Suburban, two Tahoes, and now a month old 2013 GMC Sierra Denali. Never had a single recall or failure of any kind on any of the SUV's in 100k miles on each. Guess I got lucky........

I have 2005 2500HD duramax diesel and it's got over 1 million miles. Two things it's a dog in heavy traffic when the fan come on and had to replace front wheel bearing @ 900K miles. Other than those two issues it's been a fine truck. Maintenance not cheep but done every 5K miles. Tomorrow will hit I-20 for 400 miles and get 20 mpg rolling at 70-75 mph. I like Chevy and they are a good truck with best interior/seats of the big boys.

I hate to question you but. The truck is 9 years old. That is 3285 days. To drive 1,000,000 you would have to drive 304 miles each day every day of the year for 9 years. ???

I like to question the 20 mpg's going 70-75... Ive put a few miles on a d-max myself(in well maintained stock form) and to get 20 you had to stay around 60-65 on an empty truck and its a 2wd. The other is a 4x4 and does worse.

My GMC 1/2 ton does fine for all the hell I put it through. Surprised its made it as far as it has. 160,000 strong. Ford and Dodge are fine trucks though. Like all three makes and wouldn't mind driving any of them.
