I've smoked two with my bow over the past two seasons. Both body/neck shots. I've missed more than I can count over the past 15 years. Probably only actually connected on about five. I've seen my dad hit one in the head so I know it's possible. You gotta be a heck of a shooter though.

I use the guillotine the heads flys right off.
If your lucky, line up two turkeys and shot them with a two blade Blood runner. Have a question for ya. I have some of these heads given to me a few yrs back. I haven't had the chance to try out but looks like I'm gettin to go this spring. Mine came with some small plastic tubes that slide over the blades. You don't shoot with these on do you?? I'm thinking it's just a protector till you are ready to hunt with them, but not sure.

Navasota, ya know you could really help the cause if you'd video a head shot on your Nebraska trip.

Just shoot the head you use for deer. I've killed a dozen with thunder heads and steel force. Break the wing butts or shoot em in the head if they run let them bleed just like anything else. Don't jump up and try to catch em like folks do that shot gun em. It's good times you'll enjoy it. I've shot a few turkey's with a bow and they can cover allot of ground, hard to track a blood trail when their flying. if you hit one get after him and put another one in him as quick as you can.
Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

I said if they RUN let them bleed not if they fly let them bleed. Break the wing but or hips they can't get air born and let them bleed. I've done plenty of times, if they get in the air then you got trouble.

Those feathers can absord allot of blood and they don't have a ton of it.

That's cool. I haven't lost one since I started doing this. My thinking is I got a better chance finding them if they never take flight so I don't push em, they run first fly second when danger is near I got a better chance of finding blood on the ground than I do in top of a tree. Most times if they run off they stay down if they fly off they are hard to find, so I let em run off, wait and then find em close where they layed down. Most times in sight and of course head shot they just flop around right there. As long as we are both getting birds killed it don't matter.

I used a Muzzy 100 grain 3 blade this year. Worked like a charm. He did not go anywhere. Shot out of ground pop up blind. Distance of 20 yards.
