Thank you Parttime, I had a great time with you and Shay this morning and yes it was very cold. I think my son Cody would have been proud of his dad for getting you and Shay on deer but maybe a little concerned that I am not as fast as he is in getting them gutted out.

It is looking more and more like Ruth Chris. Always glad to help. Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a good New Year. Also hope we can still use rifles to hunt next year. I never have been much good with a spear.

Merry Christmas, everyone. Apologies to John and Cody for taking so long to post up a report of our hunt last weekend, but you know how the holidays can get ...

Our first sit was Friday evening, and we got to watch about six does and a nice, tall-racked young buck do their thing for a while at the feeder. I knew then it would be a successful hunt. My guide was Cody - he is a sharp guy and a lot of fun to hang out with. He takes his job seriously but is obviously doing it for all the right reasons - namely, for the love of the hunt! I really enjoyed hunting with him.

On Saturday, we switched to a spot that Cody felt would deliver a big buck. It was a dark, clear morning, just above freezing, and we had deer at the feeder well before first light. It wasn't long before we recognized a couple of bucks in the group, and not much longer before we could see that one of those bucks was a big-bodied, wide 8-point. He was running the show, chasing away other deer that got too close and generally looking bigger and badder than anything else out there. Finally there was enough light to size him up right, and Cody gave the green light. One smack from the 30-06 knocked him down. He got up and ran another 50 yards before crumpling for good.

This was one of Bowsnrods' management hunts, but the deer is a wall-hanger to me, and I felt privileged to take him. The ranch and operation are first-class all the way, as are John and Cody. Talk about a couple of guys who want nothing more than to provide a quality experience to their hunters. I can't say enough good things about them. I'll be going back for sure.

Here are a few more pictures. Enjoy!

Yup, I believe that is the big 8 I saw Friday morning. Congrats on a great deer!
Oh and that would be a wall hanger to me as well.

That is an awesome 8! And I thought I'd beaten the hunting bug this year! smile

Is there lodging on this hunt? Can you send me a little info? I have a lot of people I know looking for good hunting experiences!

Thanks, guys, I am still so stoked over him! Cody did an awesome job!

There is no lodging on the ranch but there are cabins you can rent nearby or hotels in Boerne about 20 minutes away.

Great Looking 8 Point Johnny! You are right on all counts, that's a great wall hanger and John & Cody are top notch. My brother & I had a great time with them a while back and they both are genuinely great folks. Looking forward to hunting with them again next season.

Be calm brother, I see you and thank you. Your spirit and body nourish mine. Be calm brother; I see you and thank you.

Thank you Terry for the kind words, Cody will be out of the pasture for a few days he had his wisdom teeth taken out this morning, I guess dad is going to have to step up.

That is an awesome buck, most exellent 8 point!
I ran out of time this year, College tuition for my youngest due Jan.10th didn't help either! But I WILL book a hunt with y'all next season.

Best,
Curt
