We haven't weighed mine yet, so far we've got through the backstraps and front legs....about 69lb...including bones. The guide guessed my uncles one at 320lb alive and 280lb of meat

Details: lots of mosquitos, I would reccomend thermacell highly. Ya don't really need anything bigger than 30-06 either. The shots could get far but there is a lot of brush and you should also be prepared for shots less than 50yd.

If it weighed 320 you are not getting 280lbs of meat

Congrats on your hunt Chital. Your family is in for some fine eating, especially your young cow. Those are a tremendous bargain for what y'all paid.

I'd be careful telling folks they don't need anything bigger than a .30-06. It will certainly get it done with the right bullet, but there's a lot of difference between the cows and a big mature bull, as in a couple hundred pounds of muscle. More gun isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Yeh that's true. That bigger cow took 5 running and ill placed shots. But then again, they were bad shots

Just finished the tenderloin
My first bite confirmed that Nilgai beats all. Including elk
