I had Xao from California come in to do some Hog hunting Texas style! How do you say? He came, He saw, He achieved his goal!?!??! (He hunted through the night and then we picked up all the hogs in the field at daylight and took them back to the Ranch house) First Hog of the night was a 175 Pound Boar: Next HOG broke our record books!!!! At 4 am he spotted this MONSTER huffin' and puffin across the wheatfield...He was able to take him out with one shot to the head! Let's Call him MR. BOAR: Weighin in at 335#'s This Dude was one heavy BOAR! Took 5 guys to load it in the truck! 335 pounds with 4.5" cutters! (Crazy part was NO war wounds on him at all???) Guess No one would mess with him! Then at daybreak Xao watched as a pack of 50+ pigs entered the wheatfield and started munchin'... He picked out a nice sow and dropped her! He could have easily taken out 2 or 3 more, but felt he had dropped enough bacon for the night! She Weighed in at 145 pounds After all three were picked up we took a picture with all of them on the tailgate: Congrat's Xao for having a GREAT hunt! BTW, the BIG BOAR is headed to the Taxidermist!!! J.J.

I am out in FTW area for a 6 month contract job. I was an avid hunter and fisherman in CA. Been here a month and have cast a few line in the local lakes and rivers a few times. Been feeling the urge to shoulder the rifle and watch a hog in that scope's crossed-hairs. Boy was I glad I found JJ. JJ, are you giving that name to the hunter or the boar? When I first laid eyes on the field, I knew it was a great little setting and with perfect timing, the fullmoon was bright with plenty of light for night hog hunt. All the signs and trails in and out under the barbwire fence and a pond in the middle of the open field, it lighted up the bulb in the back of my mind that it was going to be a hog killing spree night. Anyway I haven't had a night like this before, besides the one night with that brunette in Vegas a few years ago.......and ssssssshhhhhhhhhh don't tell that to my game warden... The hunt, the hogs, the shooting, were awesome....The skinning, butchering, and meat preparation were tiring especially after an all night without any sleep. But it's nothing new and doesn't bother me at all. Anyone looking for a hog hunt? Definitely give JJ a holler. And I still want that squirrel hunt and striper fishing.

Well, Last night I ruined a Father/Son from Burleson, TX! They decided to come up and hog hunt with us for their "FIRST HUNT EVER" I decided to put them in the same field that Xao hunted a few days ago... I got them set up in a pop up blind and then spread some corn around a hog pipe about 50 yards from them. 8:45 pm rolls around and my phone blows up! "I THINK WE GOT ONE!" I told them to hold tight and that I would be there directly! Drive across the field and and pick them up and drive over to the hog pipe. There lays a 140 pound sow!! They are Stoked!!! Kid says: "Dad, this is SOOOO much cooler than X-Box!" Then as we loaded it up, with the moon starting to get higher in the sky, I look out about 150 yards and here rolls out a herd of 30+ pigs into the field... I told them, Hey let's walk up on them and see how close we can get... We ended up walking about 25 yards from them, and watched them for a few minutes...They were all piglets, 20-50 pounds each...so we decided to let them live til another day! (They both thought that it was super cool to walk up to them and listen to them grunt and root around) We then took it back to the ranch house and strung up the sow and I showed them how to butcher out the pig, and let the kiddo help me! Afterwards, all they could talk about is getting back out and doing some more hunting! Dad said after they shot the pig, the kiddo was instantly on the phone telling all his friends about it! They told me in the truck all they ever do is play video games, watch TV, and the special events are going to a Movie. They said This is Diffiently the COOLEST Thing they have ever done and they got to do it as a Father and Son! J.J.

4 weeks ago you said you were taking a break on the hogs, too hot. Only thing hot is the number of hogs your clients are laying down. Awesome!

Hey J.J.,
Please don't tell me that Mr. Boar was the one that was standing five feet from that pop up blind that one night! If it was, I'm glad I didn't take an off-handed shot cause I probablly would have just pizzed em off and it would have been game on from there. Man that thing had some cutters.
Glad your clients are getting a lot of shooting opportunities. Might have to drag T-Bone, Cory and me up there to get some pork.
If you ain't hunting, you ain't living right.

Ranch hand told me he saw him walk across the pond dam 2 nights ago...All 400+ pounds of himself! Ole Jarrett, called me from Rhode Island or somewheres and told me he want's him...LOL... We'll see! I have Paul from Alabama coming in Saturday and I was planning on putting him Where you did the death march several times, Same field Ed shot that 276 pound Boar. Give me a shout and we'll see what we can work out! J.J.

I have everything packed (checked twice to make sure I had the ammo I want to take) and ready to go! It is all sitting just inside my front door in the living room waiting for Friday 3am cst to leave out for Ft Hood, then Pottsboro for Saturday. Needless to say I am excited about my first Texas hunt of any kind. Have hunted Fla, and Bama, but this is first elsewhere.

THOSE MOSQUITOS ATE ME ALIVE!!!...they got a good feast on me before I got fed up with them and walked back to my truck for the repellent spray. Good luck to ya.

Duly noted. I talked at length with JJ earlier this evening, and he said you really knew your stuff when it came to hog hunting. I am hoping for a second trip after first of the year. Maybe if your contract is still active we can hook up for a hunt. I am disabled and can only afford so much per month to set aside, but my parents usually give me money for Christmas ( I am hunting on my bday money this weekend but don't tell my mom.) I too plan on staying the entire night out in the stand. You harvested some beautiful hogs for sure and I, like you am glad I ran across JJ's posts. I picked him cause there were so many positive post about him. I might try a coyote hunt here in Bama this sept, and then hunt here for deer season...the rest of it will be texas for HAWGS baby!!

Well, had Paul (BadHabit) come over from Alabama for a hog hunt this weekend. Was going to hunt Saturday afternoon through Sunday Morning. He saw several deer Saturday evening, but the hogs stayed their distance... Finally 7:15 Sunday morning a nice 140 pound Sow walked out and Paul pulled up and dropped it with a shot to the head! Congrat's Paul, and I look forward to you coming back out and hunting with us next spring! J.J.

Last night I had David and his son Parker come up for a Hog hunt. Parker the boy scout came all prepared for his first Hog hunt! I set them up on one of the properties that borders the refuge. As the sun began to set they had numerous wildlife come out and got to see some nice deer as well. Then at about 10:00 a nice pack of pigs came out and worked their way to the feed... They stepped into the light and Parker dropped his first PIG with his rifle!! The Text read: "Man this was AWESOME, we had a GREAT time!" I think their smiles says it all! Congrat's Parker!! J.J.

Wow!!! What a great time!! Long 13 hr drive to get there, but man was I excited. MY first hunt in Texas and my first hog hunt had finally arrived. After checking wtih JJ and looking at some pics on the puter of recent feeder activity a site wasa selected and out to the blind I went. On the way to my blind we stoped and visited with one of the ranch hands on the property. All I can say was if the trip had ended there, it would have just about not been dissapointing!! Man that dude ws funny. I prolly would have seen about 15 more animals thaan the doe and two fawns at 7:30 and the local 12pt buck that came out to feed right at night fall if I wasn't visually challenged. Diabetes has destroyed my night vision capabilities, but no worries, the 140 sow came out at 7:15 and now she's at the processors here in Bama!! The camera over the feeder showed over 20 new pics that night.
I can't say enough about JJ and the way he runs things. I even got invited to come back and do some fishing and Dove hunting by his friend Kelly. My hunting buddy that went to help me since I am disabled, and I have already talked about a couple's hunt in May 2013, cause we wanna utilize the brand new cabin's JJ has now on site to use!! Every is there but the food he says. And the rate on that is fabulous as well.
Thank you so much JJ for making my first hunt in Texas such a great experience. My GF had been considering moving here, but we have been looking at properties done near Ft Hood area ever since I got back to her house after the hunt!! I am hooked for sure!!
