Everyone told me I needed a Glock, so after ten + years I bought a 19 gen 3, didn't like it. Thought smaller might be better, tried a 26 gen 4. No prize. Maybe a different caliber so tried a 31 gen 2 but still did not like it. Decided to go basic with 17, gen 2. Short story, have sold 19 & 26 and will sell 17 & 31 when I get the time. I went through same process with XD. Have a Sig that is OK. CZ that I love. Plus numerous 1911's. You are welcome to try my glock 17 or 31. They go bang, and have not experienced FTF. Rather you try mine than spend your money and be unhappy. You can freeze mine or pour sand over them, whatever turns you on. The original owner of the 17 said he thought he had fired over 10,000 rounds through it. Had 7 mags so maybe he did.

Forgot to add, I have tried over 7 brands/loads of ammo in the Glock 17 to find one that it did not like and so far it eats them all, but so does my Sig and a Ruger P95.

I have owned more Glocks than any other type of pistol. I simply love them. Yes, they are bulky and boxy - but I love them anyways. I have fired more rounds thru Glocks than probably all other pistols combined. Even though I have an awesome Springfield Armory Champion stainless with night sights and I love this pistol too - my Glock 21 Gen 4 is by my bed.

I seem to recall a guy that completed both the Springfield and Glock armorers course and after seeing the designs up close and personal....vowed to never buy a Springfield XD. But that was something I read on the internets so.... I remember that and it was a guy on this forum. I just can't remember who it is. I can't remember if I posted that here, but I have posted it before. Having been through multiple factory armorer courses There are only a handful of firearms that I would carry knowing my life would depend on it to work. Glock and Sig Sauer are at the top of that very short list. I often pick at the Glock crowd as I have always preferred Sig Sauer because it fits my hand better so naturally I shoot them much better. As of recently I really dig the Glock gen-4's the little bit of extra material removed from the back-strap was just enough to make it fit like a glove and in turn make me shoot with it as well as my P226/P228. Pound for Pound Dollar for Dollar Glocks are one of the most reliable firearms and probably one of the better choices when you compare them to the prices of some competitors. I would not hesitate to tell anybody to buy one, working in the capacity I do, I see guns come in with problems all the time from minor to major. From Both average Joe and Patrol officers to guys who are highly trained 3 gun shooters or SWAT officers putting thousands of rounds through guns a year. I can honestly say I have yet to work on a Glock, Sig Sauer, H&K, or FNH other than routine maintenance (replace worn spring / clean) and definitely not a major issue or catastrophic failure. As much as I hate to say this I can't say that about XD's, Beretta's, Walther's, Smith & Wesson's both old and new.

Like others said, you just need to try one out and see if you like it or not. For some the grip and grip angle works, for some it doesn't. I have had a Glock 23 for 20 years. They are very reliable and accurate. I have a Ghost Rocket 3.5 lb trigger connector in mine with no overtravel and for whatever reason I can shoot it just as accurately as my high end .45ACP and .22LR target pistols.

I held off buying one for years just because of the way the grip felt.I finally broke down and bought a 23 and now I shoot it more than my others.

I like my .40 caliber Glock and here is my target from my last concealed carry class qualification test. That one lone stray shot would have still got him in the ear!

They actually let you shoot at the head in CHL qualification? There was a guy that got in trouble in ours for shooting at the head.

Glock for accuracy out of box 10 stars. Easy cleaning and break down 10 stars. Available calibers 8 Stars (for you 32 & 25 lovers). Easy training ability 10 stars. Reliability 10 stars. Affordability 8.5 Stars. Loves every brand of ammo made 10 Stars. Magazine quality 10 Stars. Overall what's not to like. The polymer lower has had no problems that people thought they would and makes it light weight. it is a little wide but I think it helps with target accuisition. I also imagine staring at that wide gun pointed at you has an additional psychological effect. Hard to beat in the overall category. If you are a wheel gun guy don't get offended as they are two different species.

Never shot a glock that I really liked the feel of. Good solid pistols but I have never owned one and probally never will. I like my 1911s and XDm but mainly a wheelgun guy myself.

I am a glock junkie. I have owned nearly every model. One thing i have learned though over the years that there isnt any real comparison between a 1911 and a glock. If you are a fan of the 1911 you most likely will not like a glock and vise versa.. I have owned some really expensive 1911's and everyone of them got traded off for glocks. If there is ever any reason i am not carrying my 27 is because my little sig p238hd needs to come out every once in a while. Like today!

I have a G23 that I hate, and will probably sell it soon. I also have a G17 that I LOVE! I think the reason for that is the G17 has a larger frame and smaller caliber (so less recoil). Personally though, I prefer my CZ 75B, CZ SP01 or SIG P226 (all 9mm's) I would do what most everyone else is saying; Find someone close that owns a Glock you're interested in (or rent one for that matter) and give it a try. Better to waste $20 on ammo than $500 on a gun you regret

For those of you who've tried Glocks & didn't like them, have you tried the Gen4? I've had a Gen 1,2,3 & 4 G27. 1,2 & 3 were ok but the Gen 4's are, to me, FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR more comfortable. I have short fat hands. The G22 was always too big for my hand until they came out w/the G4. Fits like a glove!

I like both glocks and 1911's...I like to shoot the 1911 more but the gun in the bedside table is a glock 26...so simple and reliable, doesn't rust, no fuss. I have come to appreciate plastic guns for their ease of maintenance. I much prefer cleaning a glock to cleaning a 1911. I am considering getting a glock 23 but I'm a little leery of .40 in a glock after seeing / hearing all of the KB stories on the internet. Glocks in 9mm have a great reputation though.

Did Glock finally get all the "kinks" worked out of the Gen 4's? I'm a sucker for 9mm and a Gen 4 M17 isn't anything I truly need, but shoot. If I lived within my means my life would be total crap.

The only reason to buy a glock is for a 10mm host. Other than that they are lack luster. Gen 3>>>> Gen 4. Terrible factory trigger and with a glock that is really all you get.

I like Glocks. Not my favorite but strait forward no non sense platform. Id say more LE agencies use them that any part of the military and because they are so utilitarian. Pull out of holster when a threat occurs, pull trigger until threat is no longer is a threat, holster and wait for PD arrives or fill out paperwork for your dept. Pretty cut and dry.

My favorite gun is my Beretta 92FS. But I carry a Glock and a Kahr 9mm. I also like the XD's. Never had an issue with any of them ever. And I did a weekend course with my Beretta running 700 rounds thru it without cleaning. Never a failure or jam. My Glocks have also been 100% reliable with many rounds put thru them.
For personal protection I would go with a Glock. Or a S&W revolver.

Glocks offer a number of things. They do just about everything well. Out of five stars 1) Reliability ***** 2) Cost **** 3) Durability **** 4) Ergonomics *** gen 4 **** 5) Ease of use, training, stress fire etc ***** 6) Safety ** 7) Service after the sale ***** 8) Accuracy **** 9) Trigger **** 10) After market *****
