No, to be truthful they had been dead for quite a while. Not sure how long but they had not been seen in 4-5 yrs. They were found on a creek bank under a canopy of brush and trees so they were well protected from the sun for the most part. What was even more mysterious about this is I found 3 sets of jawbones in the are: 1 was a 5.5 yr old, 1 was a 4.5 yr old and the other one was a 3.5 yr old. But I only found these 2 skulls locked together along with a few scatter bones. You can tell by the dirt stain they had been laying for a long time with the other sides bleached out and it was in full shade most of the time.

Saw a couple of caribu like that in Alaska when I was a kid. Didn't care to get involved with that much tonnage moving around.
