Buggies are nothing more than a 4 wheel drive golf cart with a battery life of about 4 hours in the field The buggies are blown way out of proportion by the sellers of this P.O.S. They will not climb hills like we see over here in Texas , The electric motors will not hold up to a simple creek crossing {old saying "Water and electricity dont mix"} its still true . The gas pedal in the floor cannot get wet if it does it will short out and leave you stranded or it might go when it dries out This is just a bad product all the way around I would hate to see a THF guy spend 9500.00 on a camo golf cart that will not do what they say it will How do I no you ask EX DEALER

Blah blah blah.... Obviously you are venting. I know several people that own these and like them a lot. How about instead of making a bunch of general comments you state the problems you have, what the dealer said, and the final conculsion.

Pretty sure general venting is allowed and does not require anyone's approval. However, if someone is trying to be genuinely helpful to the other THF members, the more specifics the better. Hang in there monkee.

Have a good friend that bought one of those expensive toys and could not use it during wet weather and are not meant for going in water over 12 inches deep...ie dont try to cross a creek..He got stranded a couple times before he learned his lesson..it was common to short out in wet weather situations..

I almost bought one last year.....too rich for my blood. Bought a jeep and it left me stranded too. Got the distributor wet and had to walk. Would break down as far away as you can possibly get from camp. Long walk with a case of gout. Very painful.

Have a good friend who bought one this year, had a couple things wrong with it, headlite wiring was bad, 4 wheel drive didn't work all time, steering was difficult when compared to mule, battery life was poor at best had to pull the bad boy back to camp a couple of time. Currently dealer has it back trying to fix problems.

I drove one at a friends lease and we took it through everything and never had a lick of trouble with it. Maybe considering its pretty new to the ATV market there still trying to work all the bugs out of them, just like the new F250's!

We've got one with nary an issue. Yes, it's a glorified golf cart but it's quiet, carries all of us around the ranch AND climbs an extremely steep hill up the back side of our place.

Battery life is also dependent on proper conditioning of the batteries for the first 10 uses or so. Failure to do that will permanently alter the batteries' performance. Also, water levels have to be maintained in those batteries.

Don't expect the Buggy to replace the ATV. Understand it for what it is. We were looking for something that was family-friendly, less dangerous and easier to operate than our current ATVs. The Buggy was that vehicle.

I was looking at them for that very reason. Also, the fact that they are quiet....therfore, I could sneak up on them. I tried to get some imfo awhile back on this forum but, no one answered me. It is good to know some of ya'll have them even though some don't like them. Just like a car, there are good and bad....proper care and conditioning (as you said) would make a world of difference.

We see more animals than we've ever seen since we got ours. You can drive up to a blind and the person inside has no idea you were coming. With the truck or ATV, you here 'em from a mile away.

So if I get the jist of these posts, the buggy is a good deal if you use it mostly on flat ground with an occasional climb, are very careful about conditioning the batteries, don't get too far from camp, and do not use it in the water or rain. Seems like pretty limited use but if it fills your bill, no problemo.

One of my buddies has a Kawasaki Mule that's diesel powered. It's pretty darned quiet, goes a LONG time on a tank of fuel, and climbs well. On the downside, I think he paid about $12K for it. It may be better to spend $12K wisely than to waste $9K on something that doesn't work for you.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't there a tailpipe muffler for atv's out there? I've seen commercials a while back on the Outdoor channel, and I would think you could fit it to the side by sides also? Either way there are ways of making a UTV quiet. My grandfather owns a 4x4 mule and he bent his own exaust extension to be higher that standard. His intention was because of a water crossing, but it turned out that it made it much quieter too, you must be within reaching distance now to hear the motor running. That was really the only advantage I saw to purchasing a bad boy buggy other than the Nuge telling me to. The over all hauling capacity, towing, and the fact you won't get stranded due to fuel (carry and extra canister just in case) are huge offsets for buying a gas/deisel side by side over an electric.

The last 5 yrs I have replaced the batteries twice...Lil over 530 bucks the first time and the last time a few months ago is was about 100 bucks more...I gave it to my brotha n law for the kids...they love it and use it daily....JMHO

bhtKEVIN If you would learn to read you would see what everybody else saw the magic words was EX-DEALER I am trying to warn others of this bogus NOT all terrain vehicle I can say 1 positive thing about the buggy it is quiet until you drive it in rough terrain then the rattling starts and there is no fix . I had a customer that had a buggy that lost its brakes on a very long downhill road. She lost control of the buggy and had to have it completely rebuilt from the ground up therefore I have had one of these P.O.S. appart and rebuilt from the ground up most of the parts are a copy from EZ-Go and are made in Japan. Approx battery life is 1.5- 2 years and the batteries from crown batteries are 216.00 each there are under the seat of the bad boy junkie best I can count thats 1728.00 every 2 years for batteries One of the guys above spoke about the water issue He is absolutely correct the 2007 year model buggies have a limit of about 8 to 9 inches of water before the pedal shorts out the 2008 year models have a limit of about 12 inches Not to mention the loss of power if not a complete loss of everything when crossing a creek or watery mud hole I went to Natches Mississippi to there dealer meeting and saw all of the smoke blowing there reps do. Saw the factory and all of the hundreds of buggies that are piled up around there yard because a customer had bought the product and it didnt do what it was advertised to do there for wanted his money back and I have been there and done that with all the other B.S. that I call excuses on why it doesnt perform the way it is advertised.Call it venting if you would like I call it a fair warning from one friend to another.

I would like to see it with a couple of inches higher ground clearance. Their 2 seater for $10k looks like it has a little better clearance because it doesn't have that longer wheelbase. Looks pretty sweet, but having a manual shift it will make it harder to compete with many side by sides out there. Do they have an automatic?

Check these guys out, its a 300cc side by side for $4600 brand spanking new. Its a BMX brand which makes the atvs and utvs but they use a Yamaha engine to them. This is their little side by side, and the only down fall is its 2wd. My buddy bought one of their 2wd atvs from them last year and absolutely loves it. Its not one of the big brands, but for the price, they can't be beat. He walked out for about $2800 total and even got the ramps, gun rack, and cover with it for that price. Not bad in my opinion.

All these things come from the same region in China. I run an import company for a living and have been looking into the ATV/UTV thing. Just not sure yet about the whole warranty/parts/service aspect of it. Thinking about buying a couple just to check them out.

We just got a Polaris ranger this year before season I think they are great never had a minutes trouble out of it it's fuel injected and 4X4 goes any where through water and up hills. I wouuld buy a gas or disel over any battery product if your using it in the field. JMO

You are correct that most of these import atv/utvs come from China. The stores I've talked to openly tell people that. They manufacture these but use the Yamaha engines. My understanding (from multiple dealers I've talked to) is that when the production line stops at the Yamaha plants, they manufacture the same engines without the Yamaha stamps on them and sell the engines to smaller market producers such as these companies as BMX and others. They are not "officially" Yamaha engines, but they are identical and made in the same factory as the big name brand by the same people. Its a way for the Yamaha plants to continue to produce through out the year. I've got a couple friends with "off-brand" ATVs and they love them. One has had his for 4 years and nothing more than regular maintence like any ATV requires (oil change, cleaning, etc.). My friend that bought one last year said his only down fall was 2 months after he bought his, they came out with the 4wd version and he wished he'd known that and he would have waited.

The small company I work for has a Artic Cat Prowler and it is a piece of junk. The thing rattles apart when driving through the field. Nothing major has gone bad but we have had to tighten the bolts in the bed and rack over the top of the machine numerous times. With that rattling apart it just seems like the rest can't be too far behind. It runs fast though.

I bought a 4 wheeler off that very site for my son..110cc. I bought it last year in Feb and it has been through the ringers at the deer lease, around the neighborhood. It also is the BMX brand, all I have done to it is put gas in it. I paid 535 and it was shipped to my front door. Cant beat that in my opinion. Hell, some of the electric 4 wheelers are close to $400

Has anyone ever seen or tried the HuntVe carts from Metro Cart in Fort Worth? I would assume they would have the same issues/benefits as the Bad Boy Buggy. Here is their website...

Mini Trucks (Kei trucks) are pretty cool. I wish I could afford one, but the fully loaded one I dream of would be just as much as a UTV (which I can't even think about buying right now). Here is a few sites for them;

Somewhere off hwy 59

A good friend of mine whom I used to work for sells these at his feed store. Unless you are 5'5" or shorter you will develop blisters on your ears from your knees rubbing them. I was excited about em' too....right up till I got in one. And I'm only 5'11". Not short but not real tall either. Not many of us are built like a Jap guys.

Had to join just to comment on bbb they are great. Quiet, will actually climb a wall. Battery life is 8-10 hrs. had mine 3 yrs. still on same batteries. auto fill system for batteries is wonderful but you have to use it. It's not for heavy hauling but for silent hunting. 15 mph for 20 miles, not a problem. Water, whats that I use mine in West Texas.

I have an Arctic Cat Prowler and it rides like a Caddie. They have adjustable suspension, so if it rides rough, adjust them down...all you need is a jack to adjust them. up

I was welding on a ranch in Big Wells and they had a new Bad Boy delivered to the ranch. When it was delivered the guy went to telling the ranch forman how great it was. I asked how it would perform battery wise, and he said almost a day. I knew this was BS. I asked him how the landowner would feel when he got stranded in the back of the ranch and had to walk back to the headquarters. He assured me that would not happen. Well it did and several times too. They also had all the problems mentioned above also.

The landowner traded it off less than 6 months for a polaris, and has had no problems at all.

It is what it is, a glorified golf cart.

Buddy just built a 2 wheel club cart thats all jacked up. We road it around all day in Mason and never had one issue. Drove up on several deer also.

$9500 for a glorified golf cart!

I could take that money buy an old CJ and have enough left over for some cool mods!

I agree they are P.O.S.'S The owner of the ranch I guide on bought one and the only thing it is good for is driving back and forth to the targets when we are sighting in rifles.

I took that POS to the back end of 4,000acres only to have it DIE and leave me stranded miles from camp in a freezing rain.

I am not venting I am just giving my honest opinion...THEY SUCK!!! OVER PRICED GOLF CART!, CONSUMER MARKETING SCAM! ....which ever way you put it..

YOU WOULD BE BETTER OFF WITH A CAMO TRICYCLE!!!!!!!

Bass Pro is selling some here with lights, turn signals, etc. If you buy one you can write off $9000 in state and federal taxes so the story goes. They even have them hooked up to boat trailers, etc. so they look like they'll do it all. At the end of the day it's a pimped out golf cart. No thanks.

Have to give my two cents here. I've had a BBB for three years and use it extensively. I think you have to have the right expectations when you go the electric route as it does have limitations, but it also has a lot of positives in my view.

Battery life isn't what I expected or want, but as long as I keep it charged (and the batteries filled!) it does fine. I use it to hunt and do work around the ranch, including hauling a few hundred pounds of corn at a time - more than that I have to take the truck. That will decrease battery life pretty dramatically so don't go out on a partial charge doing that kind of work. If you don't check and keep your batteries filled you will have big issues. Also keep the right air pressure in your tires - low tires will add drag and cause more drain on the batteries.

Part of our property is fairly flat - get much more out of the charge there. The other part is very hilly, it uses more charge but still am ok as long as I know the charge level beforehand. Problem is the hilly part is the furthest part of the property so I have to keep my eye on the level once it starts getting low.

Four wheel drive works great through mud and creek beds - just don't go over the floorboards which is what they tell you anyway. Takes steep hills without a problem.

It always works when I go out - my gas powered vehicles sometimes have issues.

It is QUIET. I drive up on deer and hogs ALL THE TIME!

I have atv's out at the property, and I end up using the BBB most of the time. There are more options out there now than when I bought mine, I am going to check them out and one day will get one that does better on battery life. But overall I am a fan of the BBB.

If you want to go out all day, go through deeper water, carry more load, etc., the BBB (or electric in general) is probably not for you.

Price is important right. My Kubota RTV 1100,2009 modle has it all, A.C,heater, glass cab, power steering, power dump bed,4x4,diesel motor, camo body . It will run just 25MPH though. About as fast as I can ride on the ranch anyway. Cost a lot? Yea, worth it,YEA..............

My son says my expections are way too high.........

I dont think the electric buggy has any advantages other than being quiet. You got to admit Tiffany Lakoski looks good sitting in hers though!
