Our Tyler County lease had a poor season, few deer taken. Drought messed things up pretty bad, the deer were looking for water and stayed where they found it. We hardly saw deer most of the season but less than a mile away a local we know that had stock tanks with water wells had all kind of deer on his place.

WELL, I hunt Tyler Co. and it wasn't very good...and we have plenty of water on our place. Finally shot an old spike next to last day of Muzzleloader season. I didn't see a legal deer the entire regular season...second year in a row God I wish I could afford the Hill Country!

Bubba, the Hill Country isn't that high if you day hunt...only if
you want a lease or to hunt a trophy on a managed facility..Does
that are mature around me avg about 65lbs dressed, as opposed to
95lbs or so in So Texas..Bucks are about 85 to 115 avg..I did kill one several years ago in Tarpley that went 140lbs, but we figured it was a cross from a Blue Wisconsin...didn't have much
horn...but very large frame and feet..I leased a year round lease
to some guys several years ago for 4500 for 500 acres..which I guess isn't too bad if you split it up between several hunters..
this fellow just let his two nephews and his wife and self hunt..dd

Hunting close to Athens I saw one big deer I am guessing close to 150 but didnt get a shoot at him. Other than that smaller than normal horns. I dont know why He was so much bigger other than age. My girlfriend killed about a 110 inch 8 which she was very happy with.
