I don't scrape anything, and we still saw 50+ bucks this year. Scrapes might work. But we hunt morning and evening, & shoot deer every year.

Saw many, many deer. Took 3 culls and two decent bucks and 1 doe with the tag we had.

Saw lots of deer, but not many legal deer. I took one cull & my 10 year old son got his first buck. It was a nice 11 point with 17-1/2" spread. It was a great season to watch him get his first buck & a bonus that it was a trophy to enjoy!

One of the 8pts didn't cross close enough for the 10yo to shoot, opted to let him bust a doe. Plenty of deer moving around. and they were dropping like crazy and late rains and relatively warm temps allowed a lot of browse to show up later than usual. It's not unusual to see that at Thanksgiving, but midway through Jan should be good for next year's horns & fawns. Yes when it's greener with more grass and browse in January than in September/October that makes for a very strange year. I am just so thankful we can talk about rain, grass, and browse period given where we were just a few short months ago. Like many, I was amazed at how well our herd held up-several does had twins and the deer seemed relatively healthy with just a few exceptions. I'm glad to be talking about grass and rain as well. Deer are really hitting the feeders and fields now so may end up taking my nephew this weekend to try to close the book on an 8pt. Well I hope y'all get him!

Saw nothing but young bucks this year sans one. We had one, count ONE, 3.5yr old 8 point taken. I missed the opportunity to shoot it, judging it, and it ran off before I got a good look at it. After the other fella shot it, I decided I would have passed on it if I'd have had enough time to assess it.
Another fella on the lease passed on a legal but young 8. it strolled through his area, headed for the fence-line where a neighbor has a stand just across the fence, and the neighbor shot it within a minute or two of it jumping the fence. Kind of hacked us a bit. But it's his land, he can kill what's legal if he wants.
Other than that, quite a few piggies, and a coyote or two.

Oh, I did kill a yearling 3 point the last day of season. The doctor wouldn't let me bowhunt this year, so no doe for meat. I decided to put some backstrap in the freezer. I figured with the amount of 6,7,& small 8's we had running around, the 3 point would never be missed.

I hunt in Polk county. I think it was the worst year out of the last 11 years. We had a lot of people out hunting and everyone getting skunked. The deer were moving some but went nocturnal after the 2nd week of November. There were some good bucks killed early in the season. We had acorns every where. My understanding is tress have a large acorn crop when there is a drought. This happens so the trees that end up dying from the drought, they can be replaced. The quality of bucks seems to be getting better with the AR change. I will have to post some pictures.

I know hunters in our area of East Texas who seldom see deer and hogs. But if you ask me, it's because we seldom see them (the hunters) throughout the off season. They show up about once or twice to check their feeders, which are always empty and not working because they seldom check on them.
To the flip side, the guys who visit their lease at least once a month to make sure their feeders never stop feeding, always seem to take both hogs and deer.

I don't see hogs on my area of lease and seldom see deer!!! I feed year round and with my schedule, 4or 5 weeks on and 4-5 weeks off, my feeder is seldom empty!!! The cover is thick and they come out about 15 - 20yds from me!!! Since the AR's I've seen less and less deer and the ones I see, I can't shoot!!!

If you don't have options to change that, it might be time to find another lease.

I don't (or maybe can't) hunt anymore but I did get a sizable doe going to work last week (or some one did). I jut bought a big heavy Chevy Tahoe and hit a doe that jumped out of a ditch right in front of me. Busted some of the plastic in the grill and the tabs that hold the turn signals, otherwise no damage to the truck. After work I drove slow going home trying to see the carcass. Either some one picked it up or the doe made it back into the woods, because it was not there.
That was if for my deer season.

After 28 years of deer hunting in east Texas and 17 years of hunting the same property, I have found that consistent success requires continually adapting to ever changing environmental factors and an evolution in tactics.
