Looking at the S.A. Operator and LW Operator and one of the Kimber Customs with front checkering and a beveled magwell (Can't recall the specific model at the moment). All 3 are priced at $1139.
Anybody have any specific likes and/or dislikes?
Im leaning more towards the Operator or LW Operator but figured I'd ask.

Springfield makes a nice 1911.
Skip Kimber, the quality control is inconsistent these days. Some are great, some are fishing weights.
Also, take a look at Les Baer. The Custom Carry and Thunder Ranch are in the same price range as the Operator. The Les Baer SRP and the Springfield Pro are both top shelf.
Whatever you pick, Brian Enos' Slide Glide is a good lube for the slide. It really makes a 1911 run great. Wilson's Ultima lube is good also.

I am still looking for the perfect apron, one with reinforced knee areas would be perfect.

IF thats the market you are shopping in go with Springfield TRP. If it is anything like its litle brother the EMP I will be buying one sooner rather than later.

I've been eyeballing 1911's for a couple of years now and have all but decided to go with a Colt. Same money as the high end Springfields and most Kimbers but it is "The Original 1911" and I have not read or heard of any quality control issues with Colt.

I would look at the Sigs, very few mim parts, match grade trigger, match grade barrel, front strap checkering and hand fitted. For that kind of money you could get the adjustable sights, and threaded barrel, if thats what floats you boat.I love mine, just bought it, almost 400 rounds and never a FTF, comes with an extra magazine and a nice case. just my .02

I've owned several Kimbers and I've never had any trouble with them.
That said, I like Colt and Springfield for the money you're spending.
Everybody should own at least one Colt 1911.

I hear too many people saying they hate Kimbers along with people saying they love them. Which to me sounds like Kimber makes an inconsistent gun currently. Just my opinion.
So looks like its down to the LW Operator, standard Operator, and possibly the TRP
S.A. FTW lol

I have been looking as well and had several people say the same thing about kimber quality dropping. They are saying that S.A. is making a better gun. Lots of folks are liking the sigs and ruger. ruger goes for 750 ball park. Im leaning towards the S.A. just cause they been in market longer with 1911. Springfield makes a nice 1911.

I have had both Springfield and Kimber 1911's. My current favorite 1911 in my Springfield. Although I have never had issues with my Kimbers, a lot of complaints with Kimbers recent quality is spattered all over a lot of forums.

Get a Dan Wesson Heritage. They're in a whole other class of quality for the same money.
