I like quality gear...from top to bottom. I still hunt in a carhart and jeans when in Texas rifle hunting
But when I'm North of the red bow hunting..it gets cold and nasty..you bet I have my best gear with me
As far as gadets... I have warthog knife sharpener, and a truck window mount for my spotting scope...those count
Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, b/c they know not victory nor defeat"- #26 TR

what I take hunting... a grunt call, binos, gun, ammo, about 10 knives... (leave those in the truck) and the cheapsest camo I can find, but I do most of my hunting by stalking, so wearing jeans and a t-shirt wont quite cut it in most situations.

I have stuff, stuff that is around 20-25 years old. I buy quality, and take care of it. binos, camo, guns, etc...
I just bought two new feeder timers, ticked me off cause the ones I have been using were bought in the early 90s. Really, I was not happy the other day!
I did buy a couple game cams two years ago, and a another one last month if that counts.
Take care of your stuff, and it will take care of you

Over the years I have been one of those that has amassed quite a pile of hunting gadgets and gizmos. Some are helpful, most are not.. being that they are for specialized situations that I very rarely if ever run into. Am in the process of thinning the herd and replacing with "quality" instead of "quantity". New, inexpensive and "gee whiz" advertising is no substitute for well researched quality equipment.

I usually use a piece of vine or a twig to tie the tag on my deeer. I actually got fancy on my last deeer and used some tape. I did buy a processing kit last year with a bunch of different knives and a sharpeneer that has come in very handy and helps a lot. I hung my last two deer using a stick between their legs and a rope. I did borrrow my dads range finder and wrote out range cards for my blinds. Thats nicce to have. I hunt using the wind so dont worry about all the scent sprays and clothes. I would like to get a real nice pair on binos. The ones I have are decent but Ive looked through sseveral otheers that I would lovee to have.

I have been on both sides of the fence. Years ago, I had the new gotta haves and gadgets. Now with my sons going , I try to teach them the basic must haves. This list gets loaded first and must be on the truck or in the trailer. We still wear old model green army camo, I shop at re-sale shops, garage sales, Goodwill etc. This savings leaves us more for the better masks, gloves and all important boots. Budget, save and preserve for next year. Trying to teach them more than just hunting.

I buy quality basics/esentials such as rifle, scope, binocs, knife, rangefinder, boots, etc. I buy much of this on sale or out of Cabela's Bargain Cave.
I avoid the latest fads.
More expensive doesn't always mean better quality.

ive been walking into sporting goods stores for more than 30 years, the last 10 i didnt even need anything, now i prolly i have 3 of everything, so im good ...hear that! Problem with me is I always put it "somewhere" and then can't find it! Bought a new trailer, cleaned out the old one and found 2 or 3 pair of binoculars I forgot I had...! Pack has one knife and plenty of room for snacks, paper back book, and thermos!!

hunting equipment? are you a guy that needs all the gadgets, the new camo from top to bottom, the special little knife to install the tag in a does ear, not trying to start a debate after all we are all different, me just jeans and coveralls and binos, maybe a jigger of whiskey now and then, cell phone and good pocket knife If you not trying start a debate, write it down 100 times and read it before you go to bed. Might help.........
Experience is what you get, when you did not get what you wanted.......

My weakness is my fishing gear. I have freshwater gear, Saltwater-inshore and Saltwater-offshore. Then there's the lures...oh dear lord, all of the lures. Yes, I admit it. I'm a tackle whore.
I've got rod/reel combos that cost more than many high end rifle/scope combos.
