passed on a huge 9pt, he was a youngster at about 50yds. Passed on a super wide thick 8pt, again, due to being young. Ended up taking a nice 8pt old boy. No does yet, but hope to fix that today or next week.

Saw lots of potential in our area, and hopefully with the rain things will get better.

I couldn't buy a dang doe this year

I tend to get locked onto a certain buck or two and just can't let it go. It's worked out in my favor a few times, usually doesn't, but I always have a great time anyway. This year there was a threat of mandatory OT at my office throughout November and December, so I had made up my mind to take the first thing I saw opening morning. At first light opening morning I saw one of the largest deer I have ever seen on the hoof, didn't get a shot at it, and my plans went out the window. Once I knew he was hanging out on my place it was all over but the crying (mine). I passed on 6 or 7 others this season that I would have taken most other years, two of which got taken by my uncle and cousin. I just waited the big boy out until the last minute and lost. Saw him a few more times through the season, he just never gave me a shot (I've been told they don't get that big being stoopid). Getting a deer is just icing on the cake, though. I always have a great season with family and friends, deer or no deer. One of the bucks I saw ended up being a really nice 10-point, the largest my 82 year-old uncle has ever taken. That was a great day. Had I realized when I saw him how large he really was, my uncle would never have seen him, except in the bed of my truck. wink

I made my wife pass up this one on opening weekend. I was 1000 miles away and she txt me saying the wide 9 was under her feeder. My response: DO NOT SHOOT!!!! I had already told her before I left he was off limits, but I knew she was going to have heck letting him walk if she saw him.

I wanted to get some handheld cam pics of him, but never got around to hunting the stand he shows up at.

Passed on a nice 9 point at the crack of dawn on opening day but did get about 10 minutes of good video of him. Next morning, passed on a decent 10 point. The next weekend though, the one in my sig pic walked out and he didn't get a pass. He got a .243 instead. He looks good hanging over the fireplace and he tastes great too.

I passed on this one. He was a big main frame 7 point. Ten minutes after I let him walk I shot a nice 10.

passed this one up. The video quality is really poor... but this is a 10 point, with about 16-18" of brow tine alone. He had about a 5" brow in teh right, with a 8" brow on the left, that had a 3-4" split off that. 11-12" in G2's and G3's each.... He is around 162-165"... a real stud. I saw him 4 times, and not once longer than 3 or 4 minutes at a time. dind't really have the time to get the age on him.

Here's a couple I let go. I will probably take them next year as they will be 7.5 years old. One broke his g2 and the other broke a brow tine so I gave them a pass.

It was hard to let him walk but at that point in time it was the first shooter I had seen.
