The place my family owns is pretty primitive. No improved structures, no electricity, no bathrooms, no running water, etc.

Also don't have any blinds. Bought a couple a few years ago, but the locals walked off with them. Since then, I've bought cheaper stuff that's harder to steal (or at least not worth the effort). I have two tripods in the trees, a large platform stand (based on an old tower blind that's been converted after the blind fell apart), two tree stands, and a pop-up.

Have six feeders that run year round and have planted about 75 acres of food plots in the last couple of years in 2-5 acre plots throughout the property (though one is 25 acres in the middle of the property).

I wouldn't trade hunting that place for anything as there's something pretty special about hunting where your great-great-great grandfather and every generation after him has hunted. Unfortunately (or fortunately really for me) I'm the only one of my generation who hunts there and the older generations have all given it up.

The other places I hunt are much nicer, but they're further away and I don't get to them very often anymore. No more than once per season, if not less.

We have fiberglass 12ft blinds from Dillon Manufacturing on my place. Each has a rolling office chair and a fold-up chair for guests. Propane heater and plenty of fuel in each stand along with AT LEAST two cans of wasp spray. Other than that, I have an old 18-wheeler trailer that I used to store things in before vandals started stealing stuff. No water, elec, etc. on my place, but it's 20 minutes from my parents' front door.

1900 acres. Barn with a bunkhouse built inside that has 6 twin beds. Loft got enclosed and has a TV & fireplace. No running water. Neighbor graciously allows us to fill our 250 gal water totes at his place.

Bill and I built a small box blind that has held up well. It's about 300 yards from the barn. Our 4 wheeler hasn't run in over a year, so you walk.

I have 40 acres with 2 tripods, 1 ladder blind in a tree, and 1 box blind in the lower pasture. Got a rough barn, but usually just sleep under the stars in a cot. If it's too cold, I just don't stay overnight.

When I hunt my friends' places, they all have houses and blinds, so it's not roughing it at all.

It depends on who is with me and where I am hunting. Most of the time I stay in a fully furnished house that comes with hot meals and a babysitter if needed.

Other times I will primitive tent camp. I did stay in a Hotel in NM this year for the first time on a hunting trip. Wife was with me and she's not big at all on "roughing it"!!

No water or electricity - we have a cinder-block cabin but I think the rats enjoy it more than humans. Most times I either setup my tent or just sleep in the back of the SUV.

My favorite blind is 4x8x4 and is about a 100 yard walk from the road.

We have started to make things more comfortable lately... propane stoves, heaters, etc.

Sleeping bag on the ground, unless wet weather. Then I'm in the truck. Gets pretty dang cold.

Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

I have a similar situation where I hunt. I got the land owners custom knives from a maker off of the site with their ranch logo on them. That really meant alot to them and they show them off to everyone they come across.

315 acres. Just set up wherever usually with chairs and camo netting. Still trying to learn the place. Do have one blind if you want to call it that. Just threw together a 4x8 blind with 36" tall sides to hide my 3 yr olds movement. No top or windows. Open from 36" up.

We have a small place my son and I get to hunt. 15 minutes from the house so we just sleep ion our own beds. We have 2 quad pods that we hunt from if we dont just hunt off the ground.

I will say a nice box blind is great to have in inclement weather.

Oh well in that case, we have driven to the coast on Friday afternoon to be as close to the front of the line as possible at the WMA, slept in the truck at the gate ( dozed actually )gone in, walked 1/2 mile with all gear, walked out after the hunt and then driven 2 1/2 hours home again. I thought that was normal.

We either hunt out of a pop up or this converted shipping crate:

I have that exact same shipping crate! Makes an EXCELLENT blind!

older cabin with elec, gas stove, microwave, cold water, nice pit out front, military style bunk beds and heat by pot belly. We boil water to wash dishes, toilet is an outhouse OUTSIDE. Thinking I need to add a shower this year. We walk 1/2 mile to the stand, too cold for 4 wheeler. Stand is sweet smile

Roughing it? Been there and done that. We now have a 24x36 cabin, hot and cold running water, electricity, dish network, fireplace, Jeep, atv's, two 4x6 blinds, one 4x8 blind, one 6x8 blind all with regular windows, and heaters.

Not to mention an 8x8 open air structure "we call it the "Smokehouse"" which houses the pit, the grill, the beer cooler and the stereo.

Now, if I can just get a hot tub out there..........

I spent enough time sitting on a board in a tree and freezing in a tent when I was younger. I still hate Dinty Moore beef stew to this day.

Got older and a little more settled in my job ( 'til this year, thanks Brother O ) and pay a little more for a lease and have a bunkhouse with kitchen, fridge AND bathroom with shower. Hunt out of fiberglass stands with staircase and rails now too. I look at the stands as an investment, they should last long than I will.

Man we don't have any commodoties at our hunting lease. We bring tents and food and tuff it out for 3 days in the woods with what we got. You have not smelt stank, until you have smelt us after 3 days in the woods.

I have been using just a tent, a blow up air mattress (too old to sleep with roots, sticks, & pine cones, in my back). Mattress uses a 12V compressor that works off the lighter outlet in my truck. I can air it up, and air it down in about 2 minutes. I can actually sleep quite comfortably on that mattress.

Other than that, no running water, no toilets, no fast-food, no electricity-no problem.

No water but we have electric. Stay in camper with heat and ac. We are set up at a group camp half mile across the street from our actual property. Ride the 4 wheeler over and ride to stands. Some open stands and a box blind. Overall, not roughing it at all!

I can handle getting just as sweaty, grimey, muddy, and scratched up as any guy on the lease, but I will not be without a hot shower and a comfortable bed at the end of the day. We have our own travel trailer at each of our leases. There's no way in heck I'm ever sleeping on the ground, outside, with bugs crawling into any opening they can find. eek2
