Not the biggest buck but a trophy in somebodys eyes, the real question is did he have permission? If it were me he'd be looking for a new lease tomorrow and heading to the doctor today to have my boot removed.

Not too sure on the rules of your lease or the size of your lease but i'd be upset with any buck (small or trophy) taken out of my stand

as long as i have got to hunt my stand a couple of times i dont mind other members on my lease hunting it. that being said we all have good places to hunt so i dont mind hunting theirs later in the season.

Regardless of the buck's age there is one thing that is certain. He won't get any older.

Alright already, spill the beans. What's the dealio, man?

Who knows, as everybody else has said, is he allowed to hunt your stand? We cant make much of a call on the deer, he isnt the world record, but if he is mature then that is all he might have been. No matter how old we get and how much good groceries we consume, not all people will be 7 foot tall... not all deer will score 180 either.

Spilll!

Looks like a young deer to me. Looks like he has short main beams as well. I'd personally be pissed about someone shooting a deer like that out of my blind.

He's not the biggest I seen but I wouldve taken him cuz I never shot a buck that size my dream is too shoot a 12 point but with the bucks around here I mean I know they have em it's to get a shot on one I hunt in trinity county in the national forest I don't have a stand so u can inmagine how hard it is to shoot one most of the big bucks hang out in private cow pastures an I'm not a fan of ileagle hunting but I would love to bag one jst to say I did an have braggin rites lol but here's my story

If your dog is barking at the back door and your wife is yelling at the front door, who do you let in first? The dog of course. He'll shut up once you let him in.

I'm gonna go with the thought that ya'll are under management and that this is a young 2.5 maybe 3.5 y/o deer and that it was not ready to be harvested under your management plan. Or the deer was 5.5 and just never reached potential and he needed to go. Either way it seem's that is the risk in letting new hunter's on a place.

P.S. Why the heck weren't you in your stand opening weekend?

And Personally opening day 3 month's of hunting left in a one buck county no freakin' way I woulda shot that deer. If someone would have shot that deer on one of our places they would know to go ahead and pack up there stuff when they get ready to go home.

I hope the guy is proud of his deer and that it was worth ending his season in that county.

If it is a one and done situation, I personally do not care if the guy shoots a young deer or an old deer.

I would not shoot it, but again, if he is happy and understands he's done... so be it.

why does the guy that shot the deer gotta get flack for it? he shot it, he must have liked the deer enough to pull the trigger. why not just say congrats and move on. at sometime in all our lives or even now that would be considered a trophey!!!!

I tell you what, I have NEVER shot a buck that big. So to me that would be a good trophy. I would be real happy!

Just going by the picture of the horns, i would not have shot this animal. His tines are short, and he doesn't have much mass or width. I think it was a younger buck due to shorter tines and not much mass, again just looking at horns in picture. Don't think this one was ever going to be a monster though. I think new hunter should have let it walked, and discussed what the other hunters on the lease thought. Better to be safe than sorry, especially when you are the new guy on the lease.
