i think he is a decent deer. did he have permission to hunt your stand?

Not quite the caliber of deer I'm looking for. I can't tell if he is an old deer from the picture, but if I had to guess I would say that he didn't quite get to his full potential before he was taken. Probably needed a couple of years on that guy.

But, I know nothing about Foard county or what type of deer quality is there.

If he likes it, great. Hard to tell how old it is. That buck wouldn't be shot at our place, though.

Not sure what your goals are there. Also any info on how old? If not very old he had some good genetics he could have been passing on.

That picture angle is hard to tell about the age. I would say at least 4.5 based on the size of nose and graying around the muzzle and eyes. I don't know much about Foard county, but I assume there is a bigger one out there that you may see once the rut starts.

Better question is permission? If rules allow for an open stand concept, he is just playing by the rules. However, I could understand you being upset about it.

If he is playing by the rules and that deer makes him happy then I think that is fine. One man's trophy is another man's trash. It would have been nice for that deer to grow old but if that is the biggest deer the hunter has ever harvested then I am all for it.

It is easy for us to be critical but I would bet a large sum that everybody who has chimed in has probably already killed bigger deer. There was a time in my life where I would have crapped my pants when that deer walked out. Not so much now.

And the size of his nose! What is the circumference of that nose? Nostril diameter?

I'm pretty sure that's just a normal deer marking not necessarily a "Graying" muzzle.
