impressive animal and thats a trophy for that guy but elk in a 1000 acre HF is pretty pathetic. If he could afford that hunt he could go anywhere in the US and get one fair chase. JMHO

I am just proud of the fact that the elk was killed here in Texas,

In elk are not native to Texas so it is open season, wether its cow, or bull. The law does not restrict bag limit on nonnative animals so you may shoot as any as you like. I don't agree with it but thats the way the law is. Btw great bull.

Elk are native to Texas. They either left of their own accord or were hunted off. We mule deer hunt in Sanderson and they have been seeing free range elk as far east as Marfa. They are not classified as a game animal which is why there are no bag restrictions.
Shoot low boys, they're riding shetland ponies! Lewis Grizzard I was actually laughing at myself at how little self control I have.
Let a nice rack walk into range and I lose it.

I hope the guy had a blast really I do.
I however don't agree with how it was done. I'm sure the man had a great time and in his eyes he has a trophy so good for him. It's just not something I would be proud of. I read the article he was able to pass on those other animals because they knew the one he killed couldn't get away. So they drove around in a vehicle and the guides walked the woods out until they jumped him and the man shot him with a rifle. If he would have missed they would have just got in the truck and chased him down. That's just not something I would be proud of but to each his own.

Sure the guy has a fantastic animal and is proud of it I am sure just look at his smile.
I still wonder is that an elk or elk&red deer cross. That antler configuration sure looks more like a red deer than any elk I have ever seen. Wonder if evenb SCI will take a crossbreed if that is what it is.
