Yes I was thinking of the swaro 5-25 and forgetting the spotting scope, I already carry to many things!!!
Has anyone tried this?
I have good binos, but 10X can't judge deer well at 300+ yards. I have looked thru a Swaro 3-18 and if the 5-25 is anything like it I would say it would fit the bill. They are great optics. I use my Zeiss Conquest 6.5-20 on my .270 for the same reason that you are wanting to. I know is hard to tell but what will be your guess on the distance you are able to judge B&C score a deer with your scope? Swaro or zeiss? Judging the two you saw? Thanks I would say Swaro hands down but at a steeper price. Remarkable difference in my opinion. But my Zeiss is 6 yrs old now and seen lots of miles. I would guess you can judge scores on a bucks as far as you want to shoot. I watched a Mule Deer buck with real deep front and back forks at over 1500 yds walk away from in the early morning sun and heat waves and thought he would go over 170 and new he was big enough to go after but walking away from me at the pace he was I knew I could not catch him. I would say that you can easily judge bucks out to 500 or so yards no problem as long as you have a good rest. I use a bipod on my rifle and/or shooting sticks in West Texas.

Various Schmidt & Benders on all of them.
I'm sorry I lied, I just wish I had S&B's on all of them. Currently have a Nikon Buckmaster 3-9 on my Remmy Model 7 .260. It works OK but I have REALLY been wanting to upgrade to this guy.....Nightforce NXS 2.5-10 x 32 Compact. The Nikon was on the weapon when I bought it, and there is no way I can afford an S&B, even the Nightforce is out of my range right now, but I'll keep it on the wishlist. Everything else is sporting a Leuopold.

Backup gun #1 - Zeiss Conquest 3x9x40

Silver spurs and gold tequila keep me hanging on. Pretty girls and old cantinas give me shelter from the storm.
