yep I have one of those GSP's on my boat so I dont get lost on the lake at night. They do point real well. But why a chessie over lab.
Because CBR are stronger, faster, smarter. I have hunted mine all over the country. He will hunt Quail, Phesants & Waterfowl all with equal skill.

First Chance, I have to admit that GSP is a good-looking dog.

Hum. smarter? Is that why chessies are now the number one dogs used as seeing eye dogs, and drug sniffing dogs? No wait, thats labs.

I own raise and hunt chessie's. One thing is fact, there was 350,000 litters of labs reg last year and only 3500 litters of chessies, you can buy a back yard lap dog in any papper in america for under 200.00 every day of the week. When you buy a chessie you are more apt to get a born bird dog. Most of them are field dogs and not just 5-6 gen. Pets. I personaly have not seen a man eating chessie and have raised them for the past 20 years. I am not saying that there are not any because I am sure some where there is one. But I did own a yellow lab that would bite his own shadow. As to other spacifics as to why a chessie over a lab, 1). All around better marking ability 2). Extreamly strong swimmers 3). Take the cold water better. 4). More versitiele from water to upland. 5). Never seen one that turned its nose up at a bird, love to retrieve. 6). Have not seen near the hereditary problems in them. Hips, eye's 7). Let's face it they are better looking also!

WOW there cowboy!!! You are indeed a biased gun dog owner! Some of your points do not hold water, that is a fact! Better marking ability?? Put down the crack pipe! I have seen a ton of Chesapeake's run hunt test's. Most where sup par markers! Also handling........poor over all! We see poodles do a better job! As for better looking, hey some guys like fat chicks too so what ever floats your boat! Put your Chesapeake up against my ugly, can't mark, swim, genetic defect of a lab! Cash money says my Lab will SMOKE your chessie

What grounds would we base this competition on??? I mean it would be kind of uneven... There would be 5000 labs show up and maybe 5 chessies. Wait a sec... i like those odds. B/C then we could see just how BAD A chessies are. LOL naw i work with labs every day and i love them just as much. And for real does it matter anyway, they both go and get ducks, chessie's just look better doing it. On a more serious note... WEnglish, i want you to personally soak me when my dog titles at yalls test in late may. Or at least thats where I hope we get the title. It only makes sense since my dog is from San Antonio, it would be like her titleing in front of her home crowd LOL.

That is exactly what I'm looking for, I got my chessie from "flying B" kennels in San Antonio. A guy by the name of Franklin Blizzard. She has been nothing less that amazing so far. I'm running her in the started class. I havent signed up yet whens the dead line?

I was going to make the alamo test her first hunt test, because I didnt know how long it would take to FF her but its been about a month and we are finished. I am going to run her at the Panhandle hunt test. Then try to title at Alamo. I wanted to run her at Bryan College station on Mar. 31st but I have spring football games every saturday for the next month. Bummer.

I have done stick fetch and walking fetch. I am however going back over everything with the collar. I am shocked at how quick she picked up everything. I have a club training day this saturday and it should be a 180 from last time that she embarressed me down there she wouldnt even bring the duck back lol. Now shes completely FF'd all in one month.
