3.5 to 4.5 let the young ones take him.
If I'm not hunting something I must be dead.

why would anyone wait until a deer is 5.5 to CULL?
the entire idea of a CULL buck is to remove them from the herd, not wait and see how big you can get your CULL bucks to be...

he's either two and a half or three and a half, my honest guess would be two. it depends some on where this is too. he's obviously a heavier deer with decent antler characteristics. but if he's a south texas deer or a northern deer then that's natural. he's going to look big already in comparision to a hill country deer.
as far as shooting him. it depends on the property you are on. if you are on a very large ranch with extensive an trophy management program then he could potentially merit culling next year. on some properties he's already a trophy. on most places though i would say he deserves to grow another year or two. i would give him two more years.

nah, he's still dumb. He doesn't hang out around the feeders during the daytime (except for at daylight opening morning), but he frequents the front end of a hayfield.

might sound bad, but the kiddos go other places to hunt early in season and we get around to taking them when they are out for Christmas break.
