SHOOT A BROWNING A-BOLT IN 270 WSM AND AN ENCORE 300 MAG. LOVE THEM BOTH. I SHOOT WITH THE A-BOLT MORE. I HAVE A M77 RUGER 270 THAT I USED FOR YEARS. A GREAT RIFLE FOR JUST ABOUT ANY GAME U.S. HAS TO OFFER.

I use a 45-70, a bit overkill but i hate trailing animals. It's really hard to find deer at night with thick ground cover. With a 300 grain hollow point they just drop the anchor and give it up.

Every thing is DRT.
I shoot 500 gr hard cast hollow points with a mag primer and a good snort of Varget.
This is the most fun I have had with a rifle in forever and I have owned and shot deer with just about everything.

Where's all the Savage guys?
Open Country/long range, Savage 10FP in 308 with Leupold Mk 4 4-14x40LR
Brush/short range, Remington 750 Carbine in 308 with Burris Fullfield II.... Savage 110 .243 with a Simmons on top. Had it since I was 13 and love that gun.

H&R SBII in 45-70 w/ Nikon Monarh 3x9. So far, 2 nilgai bulls and 2 deer to its credit. Model 94 Winnie in 45lc has taken a doe and a hog this year. If I take another deer this year, it'll be with the 44mag SBH.
