For deer I shoot a Savage 116 116FLHSS in .30-06. Nice light weight rifle and extremely accurate with a Nikon Monarch 5.5-16.5x44.
For hogs and playing around I shoot a Remington 742 .30-06 because it is an automatic and I have a couple of 10 round magazines.

Those dang Ruger M77's are the best. Performance at affordable prices. That leaves more money you can spend on optics, which is what really matters!! I have 4 of them.
