I sent in my camera b/c it only lasted a day, they are sending me a new one. the question is do you think, or has anyone ever went and bought a new one, knowing you have a new one on the way,(but wont be here til mid next week) then returned it when it arrived to get your money back on the one you just bought. reason is, im leaving tomorrow to the lease, with no camera. so i want one setup for the upcoming week before opening weekend. is that bad of me to do that? hope that makes sense.

I don't think it's bad of you. It stinks they won't fix their product. However, word has gotten around and it's going to be progressively difficult for them to sell... I'm surprised they haven't had some sort of class action suit over the dang thangs..

You're basically punishing the retailer for a manufacture's mistake. I wouldn't do it but I have background in retail management so I may not be the best judge.

In the last 3 years, I have bought 12 moultries - different makes and models. None lasted more than 6 months. I was down to one functioning camera, and it quit working last month.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY ON THESE CAMERAS.

I would take them all back and get your money and buy something different.

taht makes the most sense to me. One of the reasons I didn't buy a moultrie, too many bad reviews

If you return the one you got NIB so they could resell it, it might not be so bad. But you don't always get back what you sent in. The I-40 cameras at Academy have differennt SKU and model numbers than the I-40 cameras at Cabela's. Don't ask how I know.

It would be bad to have to return the one you used and they could not resell it. Just my opinion.

I was once a Moultrie man, but all the LCD displays are gone on my cameras so no more.

I dont see a problem with it as long as you take perfect care of it and take it back without any marks or blemishes on it and in the original packaging. It is their fault that you are in this position. I have heard nothing but problems with that particular camera. If it was me I would return it for a refund when you get the original one back as well and buy something else. Just my 2 cents.

Im fixing to return 4 I-40s out of warranty to the manufacture. They told me they will fix any camera that has a bad lcd screen. They have realized that they got a bad batch of screens and are willing to fix them no matter how old they are.

I may be wrong but I've heard from several people that have had to send them in for the lcd screen issue at least twice which means that it's more than just "a bad batch" of screens. I think they just replace them with the same screen and say, "good luck"!

Hope I'm wrong though cause I've got three of them boxed up and ready to go back for lcd replacement.

Did just get two Reconyx that I ordered from Trailcampro.com and will be trying them out this weekend.

Welcome to the club! I was going to sell my replacements, but decided that I would just keep sending them back until I got a good one. After all I am getting good at sending them back at this point.

thats what sucks is, my first one i had was awesome, took thousands of picks, battery life was great. display goes out so i sent it in. they send me a brand new one within a week. i was happy untili put that one in the field and it lasted a week, then new batteries then it lasted a day. im just confused on what to do. i need a camera in the field to see whats going on. maybe i will get the return and sell it and use the money to buy something else. people are still buying them like crazy on ebay

I have a 40 and 60 that work fine just no displays, lol. I have em both set on 3 pic so I leave em out for like three days and get like 450 pics of the same does and fawns, with every 100th one being a buck. Makes going thru them a bit less enjoyable??

I as well am done with Moultries - every LCD display went out inside of 9 months. Had 4 cameras, over $600 - worthless now.

I have returned 2 of the moultrie I 40's this year to Academy. They don't give you any problems at all. They just return them to Moultrie for replacements anyway. Both of mine did the same thing. The read out screen went out. They just asked me what was wrong with the camera and put a tag on it and told me to go get what I wanted. So no problems with returns.

when you say they let you go get what you wanted, you had the option in returning the camera and getting your money back right?

I have 2 Reconyx RC60's. Never have had a problem accept the time one was attacked by a Heifer, still works though. Battery life is not that great in hot weather and there is no solar panel option that I know of are the only negatives I have.
