Any books out there for the duck noob? Season hasn't even started, I've never hunted duck before and I think I am already addicted. Would like to learn as much as possible.

Something that is somewhat of an entertaining read (my ADD kicks in pretty easy) that would help me understand where to look for early, mid and late season ducks???? Maybe even have calling tips, identification or any other super useful stuff.

Look into some DVDs and instructional CDs. They are much more fun than books.

Thanks. But I am slowely turning into the old guy that sits in his favorite chair, wearing his slippers, with his best dog by his feet while hearing the fire crackle beside him and puffing on an old pipe (love the smell, reminds me of Gramps). Never really did any reading in my younger years but really enjoy it nowadays.

#1 - How in the f*&$ did you do that?
#2 - was hoping for some THF recommendations. Sucks buying a book and in the second chapter thinking this sucks (after spending $20-$50)!

I know exactly what you mean about buying a crappy book. I was just feeling ornery. lmgtfy.com is the link for the google thing. I have a few buddies who are obsessed with reading about hunting, I will ask around and see if they have any recommendations.

I have a few books at home(I'm at work right now) I can't even think of the titles. When I got them I pretty much already knew everything they talked about but they would be great for a noobie. I'll let you know later.

I love the one that has pictures of duck hunters doing the crazy things we do and then captions that sound like things our wives would say to us.

yea that's one of the books I have Ed. Some of those pics are hilarious.

Here's another one I like. Lots of good tips for a noobie hunter in it.

As far as higher end, coffee table type books, First Shooting Light is a really cool book. It has about a half dozen pages on about 40 or so of the most elite duck hunting clubs in the Mississippi Delta. Amazing pics and some pretty neat commentary on the traditions and so forth of some of the clubs.

One club has a timber hole that is so good they call it ".410 hole" b/c they only let you shoot single shot .410's at mallards in ur face.
Take a look at it at least although it is pricey.
