Thanks to my wonderful wife I am the proud new owner of a Marlin 30-30 (336A). She surprised me for our anniversary. She did let me pick it out. Got it a Dick's Sproting Goods in Frisco...they had them on sale w/ 3-9X40 scope for $299. Have not shot it yet but I can't wait

I thought so. Hunt around Snyder in Scurry Co. Some decent deer and lots of hogs. Really good quail area.

i wish the 30-30 would get more respect. its a great deer round when you set limitations on yourself. that means no 200 yard shots. try the new hornady leverolution rounds, they really up the juice on the old round. i owned a model 94 in 30-30, carried it only a few times but did shoot two deer with it, one was a 150 pound axis deer, it dropped at the shot. i wish i would have owned a marlin though, i think there a little bit more solid of a gun.
