Zastava Firearms used to make the rifles for Inetarms. Mostly they were Mausers actions. Great guns. From what I understand Remington bought them a few years back, but can't confirm that.

The company behind your rifle had an interesting history. I recommend this book. You can probably pick it up off amazon for dirt cheap.

i have a mark x in .270 also, when i first got it i didn't think it shot well. then i noticed it was copper fouled. once it got a good cleaning it's one of my better shooting rifles. it's a good rifle that can be had at a good price.

I used to have a Mark X in a .458 Win. Every time you pulled the trigger the hood on the front sight would fly off and the floorplate would drop and all the rounds in the magazine would end up on the ground. Sold it pretty quick.

I have the exact rifle with Leo 3x9 and love it. It's the only rifle I hunt with because it is so accurate and fits well.

Certainly, some of them were assembled in England, but to the best of my knowledge none were "made" there. The history is very, very convoluted (to say the least).

I believe that, in a nutshell, the Whitworths were all assembled in Manchester and the Mark X was put together in Eastern Europe/Czechoslovakia, where BTW all the actions were machined. The difference in fit and finish between the Czech and British pieces is noticeable and significantly determines value, but not function, as they are the same excellent actions. Again, you should consult w/MacD37!!

I have a Whitworth Express in .375 H&H that is just waiting for my next trip to Africa.

Either way you most probably have a nice Mauser-actioned rifle the should shoot well!!

Regards,
Scott
