i have a brother that put feeder fire and it seemed to bring deer and hogs in instantly the next day he had pics of a buck and some hogs I was just wondering what yall have done that has worked well. I know there a feed store near me that sells some flavored corn and also a corn a pea mixture that I am thinking of trying anyone put stuff like that in their feeders?

that corn and pea mixture will work pretty well. i have a couple bags of those peas in my protein feeder. honestly though i dont know how much of an advantage your getting over just using straight corn. youd save a few bucks too.

Corn. Corn/protein mix. Corn/split pea/protein. Corn/blackeyed pea/protein. They all do well. Only thing we've had trouble with is pure protein in spincast feeders. Clogs up. We put our pure protein in gravity fed "demand" feeders.

I stay with corn and have a lot of deer coming into my feeders. I can't justify the extra expense. Maybe if I were high fenced and intending to get strong antler growth I would add some type of protein. Mike

Indian corn Just regular old corn but the feeders are shut down right now due to the acorn invasion. Will turn them on after the first freeze.

That's why we fed it more then.

we only feed corn where we hunt... the deer around the house get the luxury of being fed protein. The deer on our main place have a serious problem of leaving food alone. We have a trough that holds 200lbs of feed (corn), they'll clean out anything we pour in it overnight, I can only imagine what the protein bill would be. And the sad thing is, they are healthy and complete fat arses, they just can't say "NO!" and push the plate away.

Why feed protein to free ranging deer so other hunters can reap the benefits at your expense?
