Looking for a good brand of tripods. Anyone have opinions on the various brands?

Good one for the money is the Strongbuilt at Academy Sports. They start at around $200 for 10ft and go up. The only issue I had were the instructions were not clear. I could build it a lot faster now then when I first got it.

I bought one of Academy's cheapo far-east tripods this year. Like C.C. sez,I could have put it together easier if the instructions wern't translated into English so poorly. It's kinda wobbly for somebody big like me,but I put down some guy wires and drove a t-post in at each leg and wired it to the leg to hold it in that sand.I think C.C. is right, the Strongbuilt is likely as good as you'll find for the money. Everything i've had with their name on it has worked ok for me, and i'm a multi-xl man.

It depends on what you want and what kind of budget. We(most of us) started out on a shoe sting budget, if so academy will due but at some point you decide to raise the standard bar and that means a winch feeder. Keep in mind you can always upgrade. Shop around and don't jump if you don't have to. If you find you have screwed up don't worry we all have.

I may have misunderstood. . . I assumed you meant tripod stands. . . or was it tripod feeders?
I was referring to a tripod stand

Should have been a little more specific. Meant tripod stands. Thanks.

southtexastripods.com the best for carrying in and back out moving around etc. A tripod to sit in 1 spot any of them will work we have had all kinds the difference is like splitting hairs. They are all cheap.
