Does anybody know if this rifle will cycle some pretty light reloads? I'm thinking about getting one and already have a bunch of light reloads for pistol shooting. About the first thing that comes to mind is in the past I have loaded some 22 shorts one at at time in a 10/22 just for a quiet shot and they sometimes won't even eject. I don't want the same situation with these 44 reloads.

It will not...a buddy gave me a bunch of light loads and mine will not cycle...pushes back far enough to eject the casing but not far enough back to pick up the next round...has no problem with factory loads...hope that helps...

reload for mine and with 240 grainers or 300 grainers adn half grain under max for H110 powder it cycles fine but lighter loads it does not. Also avoid lead bullets in it, don't want to clog your gas port, or at least that is what the "experts" say. I have also read that the Ruger semi autos will not stabilize the 300 gr bullts but my best accuracy loads use a 300gr Hornady XTP
lf the saying "Liar, Liar your pants on fire" were true Mainstream news might be fun to watch

Thanks for all the feedback.
I didn't know it was gas operated. I figured it was a blow back design.

Most of them I have seen shoot best with 240 to 270 grain bullets pushed to the top book loads. The slower powders seem to work better. 2400, H-110, 296, and 4227.
I am not telling anyone to shoot lead in there guns but I know of a couple that have shot lead for years without trouble.
If you take all the guns off the street you still will have a crime problem, whereas if you take the criminals off the street you cannot have a gun problem.

Mine will only shoot hot factory loads. Good rule of thumb for factory 44s is boxes of 20 are pretty hot. Boxes of 50 are not as hot and will not cycle.
It ain't easy being me.

I bet that if I get one of these rifles that I can load something that will cycle. I have a lot of brass and there are some pretty hot recipes available.
