I was given permission along with two others to deer hunt 800 acres in southern tarrant county. I seen a monster buck on it last year and was excited about this year. I built a ground blind in a staging area outside a thick mesquite flat where I believed this buck to be bedded down I bought protien and hand threw and was going stealthy and all naturl. Went on a hunt at my lease in east texas and struck out! My hunting buddy called me at 5:40pm on sat and told me that he saw one doe and informed me that he had to hunt my blind due to arriving late. However he didnt inform me that he seen about a 170-180 class 16 pointer at my stand who seen him and blew and ran off but he told his buddy who told me! hhehehehehe! When I asked him about it he said yes I did and he's HUGE! says he will weigh bout 225-250 as well. I was @#%*& and am thinking about therapy! Ok so heres the kicker! I had to work on monday and he took off and hes my Boss who I got on the place, and yep guess where he hunted! Whats your take? Just venting sorry. But I still have hopes of sticking my 100 grain muzzy behind the front quarter!

I think that's pretty crappy of him to do that. You can't "claim" deer, but its not right to shoot one out from under someone, especially at their stand.

I think you're in a great area and will get an awesome deer, whether it's the one you're talking about or another. Plus, your boss might reward you out of gratefulness if he gets it.

Kick him off the lease. You can always find another boss but may never find another world class buck.

Yea that sucks! When we established are new lease 6yrs ago are main objective was to all be on the same page. All spots open to each member. There has never been any issues and its wroked great for us. We have 10 members and only 5 bow hunt. I will say that some bow spots the ol' farts will not even think about climbing. I think you need to talk to your boss and figure a game plan. The main problem was you found out from a friend of a friend that he hunted your spot. What does that tell you?? Good luck and dont get into a pissing match, b/c you could both lose your rights??JMHO

wow, one of our rules is that you cannot hunt another hunters "area" until after thanksgiving. That way you have a chance to harvest whatever you have coming to your little part of the lease

Our rule is that if you find a deer, you can claim it until you shoot it or pass on it. It means you have to hunt that area every single hunt until you make the crucial decision. We have 15,000 acres and 35 stands so it gets a little boring hunting the same place over and over unless you are really trying to knock down a big one you are pretty sure is going to show up. One of our guys did this on a buck last year. He was not sure of the age so he video taped it and we all agreed it was very mature after viewing his video . It took him 3 weeks of hunting the same stand before he saw it again.

When your boss is asleep at the lease you could find his bow and readjust his sights for him! And when rifle season starts you could readjust his scope for him too!

Talk to him honestly and tell him you would rather not have him hunt out of your stand...if that does not work....... kick his arse.

I think thats pretty crappy of him. Especially since you alone made the blind and have been working on the feeding etc. around it. If it was a community blind it might be different, but it sounds like this is your own little hole you've been working on yourself. Sounds like he doesn't know about common courtesy.
I know he's your boss, but I think I'd tell him what I think about it.
If he kills that buck I'd kick his arse.
On our lease anyone can hunt any stand, but if someone spots a buck they want to get, everyone else, out of courtesy, will stay out of that blind/area until that person gets that deer or gives up.

I am with Mr. Clean. Just be upfront with the guy. He may not admit it right now, but I bet he would not like you hunting his stand if roles were reversed.
This same thing happened to me last year. A buddy, that I got on the lease hunted my stand after I captured game cam pics of a 150ish buck. He hunted my stand and did not even tell me he shot the buck. My buddy at the taxi called me to tell me that he was impressed with the bucks we had. He measured 152. I WAS PISSED!
