Very intresting! They say the peak is about 1 month later than I have witnessed the last 2 years on our place! Heck by the time the peak hits according to that link I am already seeing Does and Bucks feeding together again!

I dont know, I think predicting the rut is about like predicting the loto numbers for the week.
In the article it says for the region that I hunt, south texas, that a doe can be bread as late as first part of february, but that all fawns should be born by July 22... I dont know we didnt see any fawns until the last week of august and some even droped in september.

The last few years in Erath ours has been around Jan 1. Seen many doe when the "peak" is supposed to be with no activity. After Christmas though they are being ran hard.

My brother's birthday is November 12 and it seems like that week is when we always see the rut in action. We are in Anderson County on the south end of the county about 20 miles Southeast of Palestine, Texas. That time of year is when the TOADS are running around chasing does through our food plots.

My grandpa says that at his ranch outside of Uvalde it always starts after the first big cold front. Anyone else ever heard this?

If there were deer in West TX, it would be the last week of Nov through the first week of Dec.
Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

I can usually tell in my area because the bucks start chasing the does!
Seriously it's during the two weeks before Christmas central part of south Texas plains!

Thursday at 12:45 PM #33 Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.
