Anybody do any good? One of our hunters got a doe Sat evening. Rest didn't see anything due to the warm weather. I did shoot a rattlesnake with my bow Sunday morning that I nearly stepped on.

Well, I ended up with nothing. I would have to say because of the warm weather as well. But the funny thing is that when I loaded up to head back this morning, I was messing with my phone not paying attention to the road and 3 doe and a spike ran across the road in front of me. It was a close call. But that was the most action I saw all weekend.

I bailed out this weekend. Glad I did. Those east Texas woods are stifling in weather like this. I'm gonna wait and see what Finfrock says about next weekend.

Well I didn't get anything but I saw a lot more deer than I expected to see.
I went to my place in East Texas. When I got to my stand early early Saturday mornin there were 3 does bedded down under my feeder. They stood up but didn't really pay much attention to me. Prolly got within 7 yards from em before they slowly walked to the timber. Climbed up in my bow stand and no more than 3 minutes later they came back out. They milled around until a little before sunrise.
Saturday evening was a scorcher. And the mosquitos were annoying. Had a deer start to come up the hill behind me. All I could see was the chest and froont legs. Turned and walked down another trail. Right before dark the same 3 does came back to the edge of the timber, but they wouldn't come out for a shot.
Sunday mornin had another deer come right up behind me and stand practically under the tree I was in. Too dark to shoot and it turned around and walked theother way.
Saw a lot more deer than I expected. Was awful hot, but they are definately coming to the feeders , just waiting to do so till after dark.

Hunterted, I am also in East,Tx. the deer aren't comoing in to my feeder at all during the day according to my trail cam, all night pics. I don't have any oak trees mainly pine but there are some bottoms not to far that have oaks on another property. I have seen around town the acorns are falling again and I think they are just passing up the corn for acorns, you have any acorns on your place?

Now I dont feel so bad. I too didnt see anything. Nothing has hit my feeders in 3 weeks !!! got corn growing. Was out in tree blind Sat. morning 6am till about 11am then went back out around 4pm till dark. Saw a few rabbits. Got oaks mixed with ceder all over the place and yes was a little hot as well. Got so dicourged that I stayed home Sunday and watched football. But I will be out this coming weekend once again . My hopes have risen since I've heard that I wasnt the only person not seeing any big game. I know I have two 10 pointers cause I got them on game cameras at my feeders. So I know they are out there. If it gets a little cooler soon I can start spot and stalking a little more.I'm glad to hear that a few hunters out there bagged a deer or two. But all in all I had a good time and I hope eveyone did the same. By the way does anybody use calls ?? I'm intersted in what call I can use this early and this warm that might bring them in ??
Good luck and good hunting !!

OPC yeah there are a lot of acorns on the ground. I'm really not worried about it. I will probably only hunt this place once more this season. Deer are a lot more abundant at my other place.

We only saw four does and all had yearlings so none were taken. We wanted to take 3 doe this weekend and three the next time, but they did not get the message..LOL I only saw 8 young bucks, 5 real young ones, two 8's, and one I thought about, but decided to let him go for the chance at a bigger one and maybe he will show up on youth weekend for my youth hunter, and then a nice 6 point that was high and thick, but nothing to get me going. On Sunday evening I had two large boars fight and chase each other around where two trails came together. Stuck the largest one at 12 yards. Other then that it was hot!

I saw deer everytime out including a 10 pointer about 17 inches wide. The wind was wrong for him. Even with scentloc he knew something was there. The first north wind I will return to look for him again. I did take a fairly small 8 point. One of the other guys did shoot a doe.

Well it was exceptional where I'm at in Hopkins county. I watched does and fawns both Saturday and Sunday evenings milling around in a field about 100yrds away. There were as many as 20 at a given time. Sunday I had a spike, crab_claw buck, and doe come in, and I made a hasty shot on the doe and missed. About an hour later they returned, but before I could make a shot the feeder went off, and spooked them again. About 30 min after that, 3 mature does came to the feeder, and only two left. Most deer I have seen sitting in a stand in a long time. I hope it stays that way for a few more weeks.

Well, I sat at camp and cooked and drank beer all weekend. Well, except for Saturday afternoon. I helped a guy track a little buck for about 4 hours. We finally found it about 10:00, and it was a little 3 point. Would you believe it still had some velvet on it's antlers.

I saw quite a few deer does and bucks...but definitely not coming to corn...set up around the oaks and got two doe...one on saturday and one on sunday. Had shots at a few bucks but no monsters or mgmt bucks...acorns, heat, and fairly bright nights are not helping...doesnt look good for weather until maybe later in next week...???

didn't see a deer. But there are a ton of acorns on the ground up in the hills. Which explains why nothing has been around my feeders in a couple of weeks. I took my 9 year old daugher with me and we had a blast. Listened to the elk bugling back and forth from the ranch across the road and watched all the racoons, armidillos and birds come to the watering hole that evening. Looked for fossils during the day. Would have liked to have seen some deer, but had a blast anyway. Ironically, this is the first lease I've been on and after talking to all my buddies that hunted on public lands last weekend, they saw more deer in one day than I have in 2 months at my lease.

This bobcat was my only success opening weekend. I stalked up on him while he was stalking up on some birds.
