for you all this weekend? Here is my story.
Thursday evening I arrived in Junction with a down pour of rain. Friday helped my friend the land owner deliver some hay and get liquid fertilizer for his pivot. Friday afternoon I decided to go sit in the rifle blind that overlooks the feeder I will be hunting on Saturday morning. As I am sitting there glassing the feeder 2 big hogs show up with a big litter of piglets. Oh crap this ain't good I think to myself.
Keep in mind I did not take a gun to the stand. I decided to get out of the blind and get to my truck to get my bow and try to stalk them. Well that failed 2 times. After the 2nd attempt I decided I was going to get in my bow blind because if these pigs were stupid enough to come back to the feeder 2 times surely they would come back for a 3rd meal. About 15 minutes into me being in my bow blind they pop back out. I pulled back and let the arrow fly. It made that amazing skin & flesh cutting sound that us bowhunters love! I watced that pig expire 20 yards from my blind. It was a complete pass thru with a 2 blade old school mechanical head.
The sad side to the whole weekend was number 1... I was not able to make it the meet up with Wes at La Familia. We had to go do some emergency work on the property. And number 2 with all the forage the deer have to eat right now they are not really coming to the feeders really good. I saw the same 3 deer all weekend and they just kept walking pass the feeder. Plus the major rain this morning kept me from going out. Oh well there is always next weekend.

Right after daylight, my neighbor started blasting away squirrels. I was set up about 150 yds from the property line in a grove of huge white oaks. Don't know if that had any effect. Probably did in a way since the deer travel back and forth from where he was huntin tree rats. But the white oaks hasn't really started dropping yet. Didn't see a deer the whole day. Not even while riding around. Woke up to a heavy rain this morning and slept in. I'll go back in a couple of weeks.

since the thunderstorm kept me up all night b/c it kept knocking the power off..(and I have to have a fan running...so I kept having to turn it back on) I slept in this morning. Well got up at 6:30 anyway to see it flooding. Got to the stand around 3:30 this afternoon, had a spike in @ about 15yds from 4:15-6:00, 3 hogs came by around 6:30 and had 2 does and 2 fawns in at 7:20. Sooo, didn't see anything worth shooting today. Hopefully I can give it another try Wednesday evening.

I hunted Saturday night and Sunday morning and had a nice 8 point come in on the first hunt along with some does. This morning came around and I only had a single doe at the feeder but elected to pass because I'm hunting there next weekend with my wife.

It was slow due to the acorn crop and a full moon. I saw one deer all weekend and she is in the freezer.

Sat in the stand Friday, saw two nice shooter doe within 15 yards. Saturday morning, nothing. Saturday afternoon, they winded me at about 50yrds. Sunday morning, slept in because of rain. Sunday afternoon I had other things planned, but really wanted to be out there.. Better luck next weekend... still lots of season left.

Hunted the lease Saturday evening. When I got there I found out the fence was down and the neighbors 50 cows were at our feeders. I ran off half of them then hunted. I saw a nice buck at 7 run directly under my stand. Unfortunately I was 35 yards away in a popup (because of rain and wind) and I couldn't get a shot. My buddy saw 7 from his stand. Nothing hit our feeders.
Sunday morning I hunted, but the neighbors were doing something and the deer were spooked bad. They just kept running circles in the field and wouldn't come near the brush (where I was). I kept hearing people along my fence line.
Sunday evening I had a doe and fawn at 30 yards, but I wanted a buck. I then had a really cool looking 3 year old 8 pt come in. He had a white top of his head. I thought something was on his head, but he came to 15 yards and with binoculars I could see the hair. It was off white. It stuck out like a sore thumb. He would have made a really nice mount, but he was on the edge of the 13" rule so I let him walk. Hopefully he comes back next year.

Saw three does and a big boy(150's). They took another trail once they got about 60 yards to me and that was the closest they came.

First season bow hunting and first post to this forum, been lurking a while though so thanks to all you guys for the advise you unknowingly gave me!
Didn't see anything Sat. but a buddy shot a doe, so we had fresh back-strap / potato taquitos and beer for supper, not much better way to wrap up opening day.
Saw a nice young 8pt Sunday morning and watched him @ 25 yards for about 45 minutes, he'll be pretty good in a year or two, so I let him walk this year. I really wanna mount my first bow killed buck and just couldn't see me spending the money for that little guy, so no regrets.

I hunted a new (to me) lease Saturday morning, spot and stalk for Mule deer. At 8:30 a.m., took this nice buck. Yeah, I'm a little excited.

All the acorns are gone on my place but it is so green and so many wheat fields around they don't need corn. That 175 yard shot across the wheat field is tough with a bow.

I took a buddy of mine to my lease to help me shoot hogs. Saturday morning i put him in a blind watching a feeder that was very close to my bow stand. We had a bet on who would see the first deer or hog of the season. Around 7:15 I see 3 deer (at least 1 buck) working my way about 150 yards away. I send my buddy a text saying I had won the bet. About 30 seconds after i send the message i hear 4 shots comming from where he was sitting. Come to find out he shot a hog and was throwing some lead at the other 10-15 that were out there. About 10 min later I hear some hogs come out at a feeder thats about 60 yards from my bow stand. I make a stalk on them, get to 30 yards draw back and they scatter for the brush. Sat evening i put up the bow to do a little hog control but was back at the camphouse by 5 due to rain. I put some corn on down the road to the camphouse and right before dark had a big boar about 200 yards away eating. My buddy put some lead through his heart. We load him up take him back to camp and just finsh taking care of him when a group 10-12 hogs come out in the road. This time i got a 270 and put down 2 of em. Needless to say we made it a pretty good weekend considering all the rain!!
