I'm new to the forum. You may have seen me in some of Sniper John's pictures. Name's Steve, in case you didn't guess already. I've met one or two forum members, but not sure who's who yet. This may have already been posted, but just in case no one's mentioned it, if you plan on hunting the Corps property west of Lake Grapevine there are two ommisions on the map that I found out about the hard way. Gibbs Rd doesn't go thru from either direction. It's blocked by a barricade on the south at Gibbs and Sam Lee. It's blocked from the north(off FM1171)at the second double curve and this barricade has a "Private Property, No trespassing" sign on it. Just some FYI and my first chance to post something.

Welcome Steve! I can't believe the proud owner of a new Franchi would be slumming around in the public hunting areas...just kidding Guess you won't be part of team 870 at the range anymore Glad you joined us. Lots of good info and people on here. Thanks for the Grapevine update.

Hey Steve, welcome to the forum. Thanks for the info, hope you have fun here. Good info here, but the BS gets deep here sometimes, so you might want to put on your waders on early. I’m sure TexasHeat put that barricade up to keep Barneys away from his spot.
I would not waste my time at that lake! COE has put up to many road blocks and reg's to make it a good place to hunt. Home owners close to the lake have cried for years for the COE to do away with hunting there and slowly they are doing it!

Don't worry nd, I still keep the 870 handy for those exploration hunts through the thick brush/mud/blood/etc.;)

Last time I hunted Grapevine it cost me $85 for the only hunter to know that hunting ended at Sunset. GW heard someone shooting and assumed it was me and my 2 friends so he gave everybody a ticket. I'm not going back.

The GW/Police have been trying to rid the grapevine of hunters in response to the growing communities outcry around there. Urban sprawl has kill that once great hunting lake and kill more wildlife than hunters could ever kill.
