Most ski days since my my skibum days in 80's when I skied every day of the season. Skied mostly Taos, 26 days. Also skied Loveland, Copper, and Winter Park. My last 3 days, Kachina lift opened for the first time all season, I been waiting on that all season, and skied the snot out of it. This was my 2nd day to ski it, 10 laps.. Kachina is the perfect mountain, north facing, lift runs perfectly north and south. High altitude, 12.5k feet, excellent snow quality at that altitude, although NM did not get a lot of snow this season, its why Kachina did not open till mid March.

I also did a ski week in Taos in Feb, this is my instructor, he is an old dude like me. We are skiing Stauffenberg..

Looks like a lot of fun and love your pictures of trips but I'd end up like Sonny Bono if I did it.

As pretty as the mountains are with snow on them, I’ve never understood the attraction of skiing, or snowboarding, down a slope and trying to constantly not go fast. Or maybe you are trying to go as fast as you can, slowly? confused2

I much prefer those ski runs during the summer, Whistler Mountain when all the snow is gone and it’s downhill bike time

Bumps the idea is to go slow, and maintain a consistent controlled speed. Groomer runs are dangerous with people flying down the hill not knowing what they are doing, one reason I like bumps, everyone is forced to go slow, and you must know what you are doing. If you don't know what you are doing you will kill yourself. If you fall when it is that steep, you probably will not stop tumbling till you get to the bottom.

Flew my daughter into Taos to ski with me a few days. She bought that ski outfit online used, it’s vintage from the 80s..

Hoping once I retire this year I can start working ski trips back into the mix. My wife had a neck operation six years back and she uses it as an excuse to avoid the slopes.. but Ive got a grand baby now that loves the outdoors. No doubt she’ll be my ski buddy for years to come. up

Sounds like a great season, not to be a one upper :), but tomorrow will be day 106 for me. Here is the top of Alf's High Rustler last week. I figure I will be skiing until mid May.

Went to school with a guy that managed the Kachina Lodge for years and sells real estate in Toas now. We took 5-6 vacations to ski Toas in the 80`s and 90`s. Always had great snow and a great time. Lots of memories teaching my wife to ski there. She had never been before and thought we were going to ski down Al`s Run. We always stayed at the El Pueblo Lodge when we went. Good Times.

That is outstanding Guy. I don't ski anymore (knees) but I do miss it. Taos and Crested Butte were my favorites.

Jealous. Looks like this will be the first season we've missed in a very long time.

You need to head north and catch better snow and less altitude. Since you like Taos, you would love back bowl (hidden valley) @ brundage in Idaho. You would like Schweitzer Mountain also.

Family wise I don’t think you can beat Whitefish

One of the many mistakes I've made in life was while all my buddies from basic training were being sent to Viet Nam, I was sent to Alaska. While there the Army sent me to work at the base ski lodge. I never learned to ski. bang

I would absolutely love to do that, even further north “Powder Highway”..

The furthest north I been is Jackso Hole. It’s on my list, but I just like to drive and take my truck and gear, I took 5 pairs of skis with me last trip. Can’t do that on a plane. When I went to Chamonix last season, I didn’t take any skis, rented, and hated them. I really hate flying. NM/CO, I can leave after work on a Friday, drive half way get a good night sleep, and drive rest of way Saturday morning and making turns in the afternoon. I maximize my ski days given a restricted number of vacation days skiing NM and CO and driving. But if I have to get on a plane, that opens up many option, Japan is on my radar, so is Chili (I can do that in the summer).

Every where I skied this season in March, a could draw a line at an altitude level where the snow quality changed.

Ski’d three days at Winter Park in January. First time there and really enjoyed it.

actually I didn’t ski but snowboarded.

I’ve never been on a pair of skis in my life.

I've got to give it to you grey beards hitting the slopes as much and as hard as you all do, very impressive! I'm currently getting over an inflamed and aggravated Achilles tendon where inserts in back of heel bone, very swollen, extremely painful, injured playing Pickleball of all things. When I used to ski in my late 20s to mid 30s, I was pretty beat after 3 days of it. Kudos to you guyz.....

I`m like you. I started when I was 19 and we were first on the lift and last down the mountain at Ski Apachi. 25 years later we would hit the mountain around 10 and call it quits between 2 and 3. We skid hard until we started getting tired and call it quits. You can get hurt pretty quick when you are given out. Had a guy that worked the ski patrol tell me that the biggest % of accident came on the last hour of the day.
