I was about 8. My brother was 15 and a smoker. He let me have a puff one day. He told me to take a really deep draw. Yup, I did and coughed for 5 minutes. I never wanted another.

I think they were $2.35 a pack when I quit.

Smoked a pack or two total in my life in college when we would go out or was drinking. I don’t recall what they cost at the time maybe $3-$5 a pack. Not sure if it’s from bbq’ing and messing with fire my whole life or what, but they never made me cough.
