City Hall restaurant on 1791 outside of Huntsville has a great CFS. I have not tried the in-town restaurant.

I ate a chicken fry at Dyer’s BBQ in Amarillo, it was GREAT!

I had one at Roosevelt a couple of weeks ago and it was darn good. Sometimes their stuff is just too salty, but they did that one just right.

Mac's Bar and Grill in Arlington is one of the best I have ever had.

Herman Sons in Hondo does one pretty good.

Dayum forgot how big their CFS was, it was tender, moist, crust and flavor all good, the only way it could have been better if the meat was about 1/8" thicker.
Green beans were good, Okra was real good but could only eat a few bites, to stuffed from the CFS.

Well apparently it's the Red Balloon Cafe on Shadow Wood and Beltway 8 in Houston, haven't tried it myself though.

^^^ Adding a meal serving, as in "Now serving breakfast," is never a good sign. A Mexican "taqueria" in Boerne threw out a handwritten sign that read "Now serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner." I had two breakfast tacos there a while back. Cold, HEB tortillas with cold HEB cheddar on top of the luke-warm bacon and eggs. Abuela at the cash register could barely waddle around, couldn't make change, and finally charged me 2% for using a credit card. Way too many folks working there; I think the entire extended family is there. They opened this place within 500 yards, on the same street as TWO other long-established Mexican food restaurants.

Having an idea and actually making it come true are two different things.

The CFS at the Golinda Country Store, south of Waco a short ways, is the best I ever had. The absolute worst was at The Farmhouse in Mexia. Maybe the cook was a bit off his or her game.

Also a pretty good CFS at Heightmiller’s Steak House just off of I35 in Bellmead.

Elijah's in Woodville is pretty danged good! I recommend the small portion though!

That’d make 2 very good meals for me…almost 3.

That’s why I always get the gravy on the side, to take the leftover home. That and I like to decide on gravy quantity on each bite!
