Ive pretty much got the "Enter at your own risk" message out at the farm i hunt as hogs have been staying away for some time. In late December had 4 started to show up - three pregnant females and a young boar. 2 of the gals birthed 16 babies in Early Feb, and 12 were left as of this morning. [Coyotes I'm sure] . One of the females i think is off birthing, so only 2 females and 12 piglets. They've become regular in the morning right at sunrise, so I thought I'd mix it up and bring my bow. Posted up this morning and it took but 10 min and they showed up. The pasture I hunt is set that the wind will swirl or decouple completely, which would be bad for my setup. Enough breeze this morning even though the lead sow scouted hard before the piglets came out. I targeted the lead sow who was behind the piglets from me at 18 yards. I was posted in thick privet under a pecan tree. But I hit a piglet. Lead sow charged my position but only because of the bow sound. She did not see me. My other camera had the trailing sow charge forward as well because the little one was causing a ruckus - guts out and all. They stopped at the treeline and the lead sow was pissed! Growling and chomping. First time I've been worried but again, I was never spotted. She just knew her baby was hurt and wanted a piece. I stayed put as I heard her for a good 5-10 minutes making all kinds of angry noises. I sauntered out of there and retrieved my thermal. First piglet was right at the treeline. I searched further a little way into the trees and saw a heat signature. Another piglet down. This explains the sow hanging back for so long. As for my shot. I think my fleching tipped a small branch and caused the arrow to angle slightly downward. Only thing I can think happen as it's sighted in (crossbow) at 20 perfectly. On the last picture sorry for the writing but you can see me, the first piglet and guts having out, and the lead sow looking in my direction. Trailing sow was left and ran forward as well.

So you got a two-fer with a bow, but didn't realize you'd actually hit two piglets? Am I understanding correctly?

I was home in time to make momma breakfast and still had the day in front of me. I love these 10 min hunts.

Yes - it was a crossbow two-fer. I was set on the lead sow but I think I had a deflection (20-yd zero was confirmed after) just in front of me that tipped the bolt slightly downwards. The through and thorough ran about 15 yards and the other went into the woods another 30 yards or so. Found that one with my thermal monocular.
