Am I the only one that doesn't have one? I see them in most pics these days. I guess I am behind the times and old fashioned. I'm still more traditional and prefer the bolt gun over the AR too. Give me a Ruger m77 in a traditional caliber and I am good to go!

As long as it’s threaded or you get it threaded, they go on anything. They make everything about shooting better other than the increase in length. Old Model 7 here.

Ruger 77 Scout is my favorite suppressed rifle. Short and light even suppressed.

I’m about to sale every gun that I can thread for one!

I’m done not having one. It’s going to be painful hunting in Canada and MX one day though

Once you shoot and hunt suppressed, you won't ever go without it again.

It is easier than ever to get one right now. No reason not to.

Suppress everything. At least make it an option. Really it's so simple now and worth it. If you only want one? There are plenty that do most everything. Currently I've got a Dead Air Wolverine that easily does everything I need and want. Just try one out sometime, ask a buddy or try a rental range.

You’re not the only one, count me as another. Never had the extra funds for something like that and now that I do, I don’t have the knowledge. I’ll live (shoot) vicariously through those that have them.

Bolt guns suppress even better than AR's.

And J.G. is right, you shoot one suppressed and you will not want to go back to a louder gun.

My un-suppressed guns don't come out hunting anymore.

Suppressed .308 works great!

So does .44 Magnum.

And of course .300 BLK subsonics are just about Hollywood quiet.

You can get a decent suppressor for under $400, plus the $200 tax stamp, that's $600 total. A $550-$600 can will be even quieter. Cheaper than a new deer rifle these days. You do need a threaded barrel, if your rifle doesn't have one, any decent gunsmith should be able to thread it. Probably want to shorten the barrel a bit too.

Lack of knowledge is easy to fix. Want do you want to know?

No, you are not.

However, being that my main---and almost solitary hunting interest anymore is dispatching pigs, I find an AR indispensible.

I keep holding out hoping the red tape and stamp / registration go away. It's not the money as much as the rules. Maybe I'm over thinking it. All I've heard and read is "do this, don't do that, screw up the least bit and it's Fed trouble.

It’s really not much of a process anymore. Buy, prints, submit, pick up. Once a company has your prints it’s basically like Apple Pay at that point. Buy, submit, pickup

The tax stamp has been around since 1934, originally designed to make obtaining a full auto firearm unobtainable due to cost. When it first came about, the $200 was a 100% tax on the full auto firearm, through time it just remained $200. Be thankful, with inflation it would be $4,731 today

From my first stamp in 2018 to last week. The process has become very easy.

Don’t forget you have to pay state taxes and federal taxes. So $400 + 8.25% + $200.

It's really not the cost, but the hassle and the rules. If I get one I can't even let my son take the gun. That's total BS in my book. I may just wait until it is no different than buying any other add on device.

The only drawback to suppressors is added length. I do own a suppressor, and hunt with it sometimes. However, the old 308 unsuppressed gets most hunting duty still. That will change hopefully this summer if funds become available with a new short barreled rifle and new suppressor to live on said rifle. If you have the funds, I highly recommend getting one.

You can put it in a trust and your son can use it too. I wouldn’t purchase one without a trust. If something happens to me I don’t want the government getting any more of my stuff than they already have.

It can be inherited by whoever, but the trust makes it as simple as them inheriting your favourite kazoo or something. Otherwise it's as simple as a regular transfer.

I've been hearing people say that for about 15 years. They've gone without a suppressor all this time and I've been shooting suppressed all this time.

No local law enforcement officer is going to say a word about your suppressor. You would have to encounter a federal law enforcement officer, like an ATF agent, or an FBI agent. How many of those have you come across in your life? Zero times for me.

You better hurry, I got identical with 22" barrel. Makes my second one, the other in 7mm Rem Mag.

Dont worry, the government already has ALL your information as do dark web scammers.

To echo, buy one, you'll love it. Omega 300 direct thread, great and inexpensive.

You should be close to several places to buy one.

BTW, PSA, Rifle Gear in The Colony/Lewisville is having their Silencer Day. There will be manufactures there, deals and demos.

Put the suppressor in a trust, put son on trust as a trustee, son can take the suppressor whenever he wants. I do that with my sons and nephews. It's very easy, just write their name on a form and sign my name. When done with the hunting trip I can take them off the trust by printing a new page and signing it.

There really isn't any other "hassle and rules" once you obtain the suppressor. Now Short Barreled Rifles you need to get ATF permission before crossing state lines. Takes 2-4 weeks, but you can fill our a form to a location for a years span of time.

I actually come across federal agents pretty often, living near our nations capital. And I've still never had one ask me to see my paperwork, and every time I'm at the range these days I have an SBR and Suppressor.

If the feds are wanting to look at your suppressor paperwork you have done something to attract their attention.

As for the registration and rules going away, it ain't gonna happen, unless the republicans can get a 60 vote super majority in the senate.

According to Silencer Shop the simple trust would still have them pay a $200 tax stamp. I was told by them to put all of them in an irrevocable will so they get them without the $200 tax stamp.

I'm not sure that's correct. The trust technically owns the suppressor. Yes, the stamp is required when the trust acquires the item at purchase, but under the authority of the trust, trustees and eventually beneficiaries have access to the item. Removal from the trust requires another stamp though.
