Just me, one new guy looking for a rifle lease not too far from Fannin county, or to join in with an existing lease group.
I'm a capable shooter who'd rather pass on an unsafe shot than risk it, pick up after myself and any stray garbage I come across, and happy to share whatever I catch. If anyone has an opening I'd love to talk and see if I'd be a decent fit for the lease or group. Thanks!

What are you hoping to catch ?
Most game animals are pretty fast.

Sorry. Forgot to say somehow. Primarily hog but open to whatever else is in season at the time. Hog is just my priority for the pest status of them.

The joke is you said catch and not hunt, kill, shoot, etc.

I mean you can easily catch anything once it's busy assuming room temperature. C:
In any case yeah, just looking for somewhere to get started.

Not my neck of the woods, so I am not a lot of help. But my advise when looking for a lease is to always be on the look out as you never know where you will run into a lead, maybe try to join a more local Facebook group and ask there, and be on the lookout here as often times people will post openings without looking through threads of people looking. Good luck and welcome to THF.

Cheers, thanks. I haven't tried Facebook, as they keep demanding more and more personal and private information to 'ProVe It Is ReAlLy YoU' and sell the data... not too keen on that.
I'll definitely be watching here closely, and ask around a bit further. Thanks.

The local feed stores? I make a habit of checking the pin board (and the clearance section. NEVER don't check the clearance sections.) But I've never seen a lease on there. Never occurred to post a thing on it myself. May have to do that later today as an idea actually.

a few years back, I was visiting with a friend from high school (45 years ago) to find out she had moved back to our home town and worked at the Chamber of Commerce, low pressure semi retirement gig ... she said there were quite a few ranchers that had come in and listed their ranch being for lease for hunting. The ranchers were old school and not tech savvy ... it was the easiest way for them to get it out there.

with that said, you might check with the local Chamber of Commerce for towns around the area you would like to hunt.

years ago, my dad and his buddies would take off on a weekend long trek thru all the small towns in an area they wanted to hunt, hit all the feed stores, barber shops, coffee shops/cafe where the locals hung out, even put up a small flyer on bulletin boards at those places plus the Post Office.

Fannin county has a lot of public land. Look into Caddo National Grasslands. You'll need an Annual Public Hunting Permit and hunting license. It might be draw only for deer hunting but you can hunt pigs year round. You'd have to research that. It's probably crowded during deer season but in the offseason you might find some pigs. I don't know the rules on weapons you can use. Hunter orange vest and hat are also required.

That one was actually one of my options! Unfortunately unless I'm reading the thing wrong feral hog is closed there now. Somehow only open from November to March, unless you're using a bow which for some reason is different...
Thats the problem with the public land here. For some reason it's all bow centric. I have zero interest in using a bow. The licenses aren't really a problem. It's purely the bows and weird timing on seasons.

Bump. Still looking.
Put out ads on all local feed store notice boards. Even tried calling game warden and got no answer.

May consider putting something in local classified ads, hit up local processors, outfitters, real estate agencies and even sporting good, gun store and hardware stores, locally...

Believe it or not yeah, I've done all that except local classified ads. Outfitters of course are understandably more interested in selling a hunt package. Not against it but not what I'm looking for. At this rate I'm wondering if there is such a thing as a sub 6k a month lease out here.

$6K a month? For $72,000 a year I think you might find a suitable lease.

Surely he means 6k per season.

Not only is there such a thing as a lease under 6K a year but the vast majority are under that price. The availability of leases makes it hard to find a lease at any price but tons of them are out there at under 6K.
