Time for me to replace front pads and rotors on my 2016 F150….., do you Ford guys stick with OEM/Motorcraft parts or do you swap out for something else?

I've found it hard to beat OEM pads. Rotors are a different story.

I haven’t done a brake job on any of my trucks since my 1994. Up to 250,000 miles and they just never needed brakes yet. Replaced pads only on my car at 197,000 miles with aftermarket parts from Amazon, 5k miles and zero complaints.

Don't buy the cheapest pads. They won't last. Oem, or high quality aftermarket.

I use Powestop pads. Haven't needed to change any rotors on my big Fords at this point only on the smaller commuter cars. Are your rotors warped or scored?

Ford dealer replaced pads and resurfaced the rotors couple years ago. I’m starting to feel something sorta like dragging or rubbing when coming to a stop, in-sync with the wheel rotation. Pads don’t look too bad so I’m thinking maybe warpage on one or both rotors? I don’t have a gauge to verify, might see if I can rent one from O’reilly or Autozone.

I quit turning them...they aren't that expensive just replace the rotors and pads if you tear into them...it's not like the old days where you have to tear 1/2 the front end apart to replace rotors.

I would YouTube how to get the caliper off and if there are any clips that aren't easily noticeable that need to come off. The last one fiddy I did was old school, the backs still had drums on them. So I'm not much help but with YouTube there aren't many secrets anymore.

Not a hard job but it's time consuming. The positive is it's not 120 degrees and you can do it without having to drink 5 gallons of water.

I only use Powerstop pads and rotors on my vehicles. Noticable difference for sure.

Raybestos is always a good brand to consider. I have ran their friction for decades in many different applications, never disappointed. Check out rockauto.com.

Rotors, even good ones, are cheap these days. If you’re replacing pads anyway the rotor is an extra minute tops.

I’ve bought rotors on eBay now for my f150, wife’s Acura, and now a 2020 GMC Sierra. They are drilled and slotted. No issues whatsoever. Makes the brake service in your driveway or garage super easy. As others have mentioned, get good pads. I think I just went top of the line at Oreilly. Probably Raybestos.

Here’s a link for an example.
