I have the 2.7 ecoboost f150 with 147000 miles. That tiny engine is amazing. Zero issues so far. MIL has the 5.0 coyote in hers with 75k. Zero issues. Wife has 3.5 ecoboost, but with only 12000 miles. When I do end up getting a new one, I honestly can't tell you at this point which one I'd choose. They're all 3 excellent motors, and all 3 pull harder than my old 5.4. The extended warranty was a waste on mine. I never used it.

Ecobost - 100k on this one - I have had several of them. Love them

my only complaint with Ford is the aluminum bodies. Sure show scratches and small dents.

You can't fix stupid

Do your research on the 5.0. I understand that the newer direct injection 5.0s have had issues with oil consumption. The earliest 5.0 as in 2011 - 2013 first gen/early second gen 5.0s have issues with soft intake valves causing loss of compression. The 2017-2020? Third gen 5.0s had issues with cylinders becoming oblong causing loss of compression.

All this is to say when I was looking for my F150 I focused on the late 2nd gen 5.0 design specifically the 2014-2016 models. I purchased a 2014 from a forum member (orig owner) that now has 171k on the original drivetrain. Runs amazing. I'm convinced this late second generation 5.0 is the most reliable and high mileage capable 5.0 they've made so far. And being a Ford guy forever this is the only manufacturer / gen / years I would have considered. But I'm weird and don't care to drive new. Keep us posted DQ.

And yes for what it's worth I would definitely consider purchasing a Ford 7-year powertrain warranty not from the dealer you're purchasing from but any us dealer for the best price. The odds are they're going to have to honor for an engine at some point.

I have an '18 Raptor with the 3.5 Eco sitting at 118K right now. It had 28K when I bought it so I've had it most the life of the truck.

I've had to fix the cam phasers twice now.

The main seal was bad and had to be replaced.

Not really an "engine problem" but my cats went out at 105K and I had to replace both those which are pretty expensive only reason I mention it.

Besides those just regular maintenance. It runs great and I drive it like I stole it everywhere I go, I definitely do not baby it.

Since when is the ecoboost a 6000 dollar upcharge over the 5.0? Answer… it isn’t.

Actually, he's right about an upcharge, but only about $4K, not $6K.

Yeah but the upgrade is over the base non turbo v-6 not the 5.0

It absolutely was more expensive to get into the ecoboost vs the 5.0 in the same trim package (potentially plus or minus a couple add ons) when I was on the lot in '21. Maybe it was the dealer, but I specifically picked the 5.0 based on price and have not been disappointed.

DQ we've got a 2023 Tremor with the 3.5 Ecoboost. 22K miles. So far I love it. Plenty of power for a 6 banger. Only thing I'm not crazy about is the 10 speed transmission. To me that makes as much sense as turning the clocks back and forth 2x per year. LOL Guess it's all personal preference.
