Looking at the super duties.

Lots of reports about the lifters going bad in the 7.3 gasser

Wondering if anyone has experience with it.

Not looking at the diesels because I don’t tow much.

Interested in hearing your opinions

I have a cousin with one, she has been happy with it. She did say, it’s not the same as a diesel with a heavy trailer. If I was in the market, I’d look at a Denali 3500 with the 6.6 gas first, unless I was buying used.

I have a 23 F350 with the 7.3 and 33k. It has been perfectly fine and almost half of those miles are towing 10k. If I were buying a 7.3 today, I'd stay in the 23+ model years as the lifters were updated in 23 and I haven't heard of any 23+ trucks losing lifters. They've all been in 22 or earlier models, and many folks would say most (not all) of those failures occurred in commercial engines which are detuned. I love the engine and it tows like a dream.

There's a 7.3 forum over on FTE and it's pretty quiet.

Buddy has one in a 2nd single cab dually. For what he bought it for, towing roll off dumpsters and city driving, it’s great. Pulling his 12,000 boat, he said it sucks on the highway. Empty he will manage 12.5mpg
