I met some awesome people at the sportsman show this weekend at the Lamar Dixon. We had a booth and I’ve dreamed of an African Safari my entire life. Well my wife said let’s do one for our 1 year marriage anniversary. So I’ve taken a dive into researching places and overwhelmed is an understatement! We are newly weds and just bought a house so budget has to be kept in mind, but I don’t want to just go the cheapest route on my first safari and anniversary. I talked to mount carmel safari and Limcroma safari! Both people were wonderful and patient. Limcroma had great reviews that I saw. I couldn’t find a ton for amount Carmel. I’m trying to do the research and book the right place for our first ever safari. It will be an anniversary trip and my wife said she’d not hunt to save us some money, but I want it to be nice and there be things for her to see while we’re over there. Any reviews and any advice would be much appreciated before I just commit! My animal list is a big kudu 50”+, a big sable, gemsbok, and zebra. I’d love to be able to try some jackal or caracal or whatever hunting at night, if included, which both guys I talked to said I could.

My wife and I hunted with Limcroma. She did not hunt but accompanied me most days. They are setup to work with couples and are great people

Never hunted with either one but Limcroma has an excellent reputation. Have fun and enjoy the planning process.

Hunted with Limcroma in '17. Excellent outfitter, wonderful facilites and people, awesome concessions, can't say enough good about them. They're not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for and they are 1st class. They're also not the most expensive. Pretty sure I did a post on here for my trip, I'll look for a link shortly.
I've been back 2 other times with different a outfitter, always tell everyone if you can...go. The memories are worth it.

Limcroma is the place to go hands down. Tons of quality animals on properties that are managed properly. There, you will be hunting mature animals that score very well and simply not just checkign the animal off your list. Not to mention, the lodging, food, staff, and PH's are absolutely amazing.

Thanks for the replies. Awesome story and pictures in your other post. The reviews for them are great all over. They did come back about $1200-1500 higher then the other safari, and both honestly were a little higher then I expected considering the prices on the packages they advertised at the sportsman show, but I think it’s due to me wanting a sable and I’m finding out quickly that’s very pricey. If it was just me I’d probably go where I could get the most animals for my money, but considering my wife will be coming I want to consider her as well.

If it was just me I’d probably go where I could get the most animals for my money, but considering my wife will be coming I want to consider her as well. I would also take into account accommodations, animal quality, amount of property available to hunt, atmosphere, staff, and food. The price of sables went up a lot several years ago. I don't know if we will ever see the price come down becuase people continued to pay the price regardless. If there is money to be made and people are willing to pay it, outfitters are going to cut themselves short. Same thing happened here with whitetail and exotics. A couple years ago you could go hunt an amazing property for 3500 and have a true chance at killing a giant, now that same hunt is 5500-7000. Blackbucks a couple years ago were 1500 bucks. Now they are 3k. People kept paying it so the price continued to rise and that has become the new market. People here will be 6500 for a blue wildebeest, but there you could kile 4-5 for the same price in Africa. You could kill 10 kudu for the price of one here. If this is your first safari, it wont be your last. I would say whoever you go with, just have fun. If the sable shot things up, which I am sure it did, replace the sable with other cheaper animals so you can get more bang for your buck for the same price. Also, take a look at each outfitters facebook pages and reviews online. I have seen a lot of places that have had great prices, then when I start looking at pictures, it is very evident why the prices are so cheap. I can tell you this, anytime I have hunted with Limcroma I have felt like family. Its been an absolutely amazing trip from start to finish. Zero issues and had a blast. Have had several buddies go with me as well and they will all say the same thing.

I can’t hardly find a bad review on Limcroma, but like I said it is $1500 higher or so and that’s with one less animal. They do seem to have a lot to offer my wife as well because she loves hunting, but due to budget she said she’d just hangout or go with me and video and enjoy it being my dream trip. I posted on an African safari forum so I’m sure I’ll get more feed back. It’s overwhelming for someone who is an over thinker or researcher like me. lol but I know once I get there I will have a great time! Mount Carmel is 30k acres with access to free range farms around as well and accommodations seem nice too.

Outfitters can't keep everyone happy. 30k acres is a chunk of land....but is it all contiguous or broken up into small parcels? Limcroma has over 250k acres but properties all range in size from 2500-70/80k acres. There are so many different ways to look at this and it will drive you crazy. Ultimately....I set down before my first trip and said these are the things I am looking for. I compared and contrasted everything from room and board, food, property area, property sizes, others experiences/reviews, how safe is the area, and most importantly trophy quality. That led me to go with Limcroma after looking at many different options.
